Art & Inspiration Show us your vintage window decals

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ko-lek-tor, Apr 8, 2011.

  1. I'll start: this is a 1940 Mn. State "Golden Gophers" mascot decal on my '30 A fordor. Hoping to get some cool vintage drag strip and speed parts decals for the coupe. Give me some ideas.

These 2 are on the rear window of an A Tub that a mate bought a couple of years ago . The Tub had been locked up in a shed on blocks since the mid sixties . One is an example of times way before "politcal correctness" .

Nothing special, but this is in the quarter window of my '53 Ford Coupe, a survivor drag car from 60's...

  9. That's what I'm talkin' about! Thanks to all who submitted thus far. Muttley, that is an eviable collection, perhaps I should pay you a finders fee to be on the lookout LOL. I do know there are reproductions for sale, but the prices seem pricey to me, so I am sure originals are higher. Like many here on the HAMB, maybe I will luck on to some someday(fingers crossed).

Was on the windhield of my 40 when I got it. Luckily one of the few windows I didn't need to replace, was real carefull putting the glass back in the car so to not hurt the decal. I also masked it off and sprayed some clear acrylic over the back to hopefully keep it from flaking any worst.

Here are a few on my cars, mostly on my A Model, but the 1939 Air Race decal is on my `38 Buick.

Hey Muttley, I just scraped the Grant 200 MPH Life Member sticker off the back window of my 50 ford cause I thought it was cheesy. Don't tell me it's old and valuable! Is it? I mean was it?

Was it a sticker or a Water-Slide? Once they are applied they arent really "worth" anything, obviously they arent reusable. I really hope you didnt scrape a Water-Slide off your car, it is (or was) part of your vehicles history, that Grant 200 MPH club is at least 45 years old. The peel & stick reproductions are worthless.

It was a peel and stick not a water slide. So I'm ok? Thanks! Cool collection you have. I remember many of them from when I was a kid working at an auto machine shop.
