    Just saw this pic on another site, can anyone shed some light on it's history ?

    cal speed and sport shop was in new brunswick nj and back in the 50s 60s was the place to get your hot rod parts,i believe the guy looking over the top of the engine in the picture is arnie swensen of the swensen and lani funny car team,he only lived a mile away from cal speed shop which was located on jersey ave and is still there but caters more to the stock car crowd last time i was there, i think the last barzda brother of the original owners died a few years ago

    i may be wrong but i believe walt moore may have had something to do with the altered also

  7. The Barzda brothers were quite the racing force in central Jersey for decades. Not only did they sell every manner of speed parts, but owned a bar accross the street from the shop.
    I purchased lots of parts for my Hudson Hornet gasser from them in the early 60's, and when I got into the fiberglass business, they became one of my better customers.
    I believe they are all now dead.

    I used to buy fuel from them in the mid 70-s .... last time I was there was in 1976.

    fellas,

    The shop is still open, I believe a relative runs the place.
