Has anyone thought about putting padlocks through the front brake rotars if you have disc brakes? If it dont roll it isn't going to go!

I'm the guy who had his '32 roadster stolen in Pomona in January at the GNRS. I know how you feel right now. I wouldn't wish it on anybody. Mine hasn't been recovered despite all of the HAMB and subsequent exposure. I'm really sorry for you.

hotels. There’s usually enough of us at any one place and a couple hours on watch is not a big hardship. Get your GPS trackers or Lojack installed before you go as well.

A thought that always comes to me is that these rods(along with other valuable and rare, identifiable vehicles)are not usually sold where they will be easily spotted. I would speculate that they might get whisked into a container and quickly shipped to another country ,possibly another continent!!. It couldn't do any harm to try to circulate info on the stolen goods to coastal agencies where container ships load.
Of course I suppose such things might be rolled into a container or trailer and spirited away via highway as well. Sadly its also possible that it was,or will be,moved to a chop shop and disassembled and sold as parts. The whole supply and demand picture for rod bodies and parts has created a lucrative enterprise opportunity for midnight motor parts sales.
We can now have identification "chips" imbedded or installed in our pets. If thats so what would it take to have something like that concealed in valuable cars and parts as well? I'm betting with available technology "our" property could be identified with a simple hand held scanner. Anyway,,just thoughts,,and good luck !!I do hope your coupe is recovered and returned to you .

so sorry for your loss. will keep eyes open in GA. (ya never know) all the recent thefts almost makes me wanna buy a logging chain and chain mine, when it gets finished, to a light pole like a bicycle. seems like thats the only way to keep them safe other than sleeping in them.

Folks, those low-cost GPS tracking units others have mentioned and linked here would be a good investment for anybody who has a hand-built car. They'd be a really good way to recover stolen cars and catch the creeps who steal them.

If the scumbag tries to part it out, chances are it's going to be to someone who's a Hamb'r.That'll be his first mistake. It's too unique to hide,I'm sure they'll find it.

23. Any news on this yet?

24. Nothing yet, hitting all the rod shops ,speed shops, tattoo parlors and harley hangouts. And every cop I see sitting and to answer sodbuster its a glass body (have you seen me drive) I bought the car as a roller from ev34 so he could buy a steel 5w and I wouldn't feel bad driving the wheels off it.

What I'd really like is some sort of security device that I could arm when I exit my vehicle that would then call me on my cell phone the instant someone opened a door or moved the car!
The GPS devices and Lojack units are seriously compromised once the vehicle is moved into a closed trailer or shipping container with metal walls, door, and roof and the door is shut.

26. News like this is disturbing and as mentioned seems like its becoming more prevalent. Where this case is concerned, Id be willing to bet money its still in Haltom City, probably within a mile or two radius of the hotel you were staying at. That area is full of "tote the note" shyster car lots, low buck body/repair shops and is in general the arm pit of Ft. Worth. I too get pissed when I hear about this sort of thing but I get just as torqued off at some of you guys who arent so smart about where you park your cars ! I sleep in mine with a Goddam pistol or its parked right at the front door and I tip the night security not to take their eyes off it.
Cmon people you got to be a little smarter and alot more responsible with your prized posession !!!

It's out there. HSV (Aftermarket upfitter for Holden Cars in Oz) speckles their cars with a special paint. The paint contains little particles the size of a spec of dirt with the VIN number of the vehicle. EVERY car they build has all of the major underbody components sprayed with this stuff, and it looks like specs of dirt. I saw this when I toured their assembly facility back in 2007 or so. IF a car gets stolen and chopped, all of the major components (engine, trans, axle, driveshaft, struts, brackes, knuckles etc..) can be identified. .

I own and operater a Mini Storage. I belive everone who parks the car overnight anywhere for that fact should get a wheel lock. They are not expensive and are simular to the parking boot used by police to keep a car from being moved. I get them a from company I buy locks from but I'm sure you can get them from just about anywhere. I know it will not keep all cars safe but I know it would help unless the thief is a pro sill it is another way to protedt you baby when not tucked her bed at home. If you can't find them I will be glad to get and ship for the cost plus the ride to get it to you. My email is [email protected]

Thanks........I hope you didn't take my question as a bad one.........I have seen you drive down the track......I have put the word out to EVERYONE that I know (even great uncles that work on farms).......I really hope that you find the car or someone see's it...........Damn!

Not sure what connections Rusty or Dirty32 have down in that area, but you might call them and have them start calling around to some of the "guys".
