I love sectioned cars! Am planning on wedge sectioning my 54 when I get back on it. Looks great. Can't wait to see it put all back together.
jerry that looks great ive been wanting to section my 53 ever since i got it. maybe some day i will get to and if i get to this thread will definately be used as a how to. maybe some day i will stop putting it off. very cool thread.
I use the sand blast method on laminated glass. Here's a good write-up on cutting glass: http://www.cadvision.com/blanchas/54pontiac/windshield.html I use sandblasting resist from suppliers for folks who make gravestones, rather than any type of tape and/or paper. Resist is designed specifically for this purpose. Well, with stone, instead of glass, anyway.
Very kool Jerry. Keep us posted with the progress. That is a heck of a Christmas gift.... Happy Trails, Mick
Can you post some better pictures of the trunk area. I am looking at your for a Ref for my 53 4-door I have figured out most of it untill i get to the back of the car mainly the trunk section.
Has anyone tried this with a '53/'54 Chevy: Sectioning the rest of the body about 3" but leaving the rear fenders stock height to give it more of a tailfinned look, and maybe cut down the doors a little to give it some of the lines of a '53 Skylark (without the Skylark's heaviness)?
Orginally chopped this car in 2010 at the KKOA Leadsled Spectacular. Drove it back this year and receive the Keith Dean award
