I've known about this car locally for 20 years and during that time its been owned by older guys who have basically just owned it but not driven it much. Finally on the third time of trying over that period I've now got it and picked it up yesterday.

It's probably a Canadian built car (as they built the Right Hand Drive models for export), that was originally exported to Ireland. These were never available through British dealers as they were still selling the pre-war styled Ford Pilot with the V8 60. In Ireland they were mainly used as far as I can tell as Dublin area Taxi cabs. The 'ZE' on the plate is a Dublin area registration code. This would have been a pretty expensive car for the UK back then, and fast!

With the car came the original registration document showing it being first registerd on 17th January 1949 and the imported to the UK through Liverpool docks in December 1950. It remained with the same owner until at least 1966. It has ben re-painted but has always been grey.

    Here's the Right hand dash.

Both front tyres were flat when we dragged it out of the garage and had to remove the brakes as the were seized on to get it to roll onto the trailer.

Thanks for the positive comments, I've checked the frame number out and it has a letter 'F' which makes it a Dearborn car, not a Canadian one. I didn't know they made the RHD models at Dearborn. Cool.

Why are people asking about Ireland??????

If you read my first post , it says it was ORIGINALLY registered in Ireland and then imported to the UK a year later via Liverpool. That was in 1950, its been in the UK ever since. I've known about it locally for the last 20 years and third time lucky, this time I managed to get it. First job is to get it running again and do all the other stuff like brakes etc to get it through our annual safety inspection (known as an M.O.T.) maybe a slight lowering job but nothing radical for now.
