Summitt has several "universal" radiators in the $200 range. Also, you might check into an S10 radiator. I know lots of guys running small blocks in their S10's with the factory radiatio with no problems.

There's a good ammount of room in there, pretty much anything that will fit that has the hoses in the right location can be adapted.

On the ford truck enthusiasts forum, I learned that a mid seventies dodge v8 pickup has a radiator that is a bolt in. Picked one up a checkers, drilled a couple of holes, done.

Either of you get a part number? We're lookin at the SBC in a 51 F1, and that soundl like a better deal than the S10 radiator idea I had!

I understood it that he doesn't have a good one to use in the first place, but if he does, you are spot on! My brother has a moderately hot 350 in his 49 and is running a stock radiator, no problems yet, but it's just had a shakedown run and that's it.

I've seen a few of them with Dodge pickup radiators in them. It used to be a popular radiator swap.

A Stock flathead radiator in good shape will handle a small block anything pretty well though.

Running a stock rad. with a 289. Runs cool even in a parade. Just be sure to have a fan shroud. Solves many overheating problems.

  17. Bringing this to the top.
Im wondering if anyone used the dodge rad from advanced auto,
Im thinking of buying one but Im not sure that it will cool an sbc with a 700r.
I like that it has a tranny cooler and its black.
    Anyone?
