We built this '63 in my shop here in Santa Fe Springs, CA. A pretty outragous truck.

  11. This '63 GMC Suburban was at the Mecum auction in Kansas City this weekend. It sold for $16,500. I just thought it was awesome. All three seats had their original Custom material. The Custom trim was all there. The plaid valve covers were on the GMC V6. I mean, how could you not be impressed with this thing?

Back in 1996 I had a 1965 C10, we were stationed in NJ at the time with the Coast Guard. Same set up, had the 6 and the 4 speed. We took a 2000 mile plus road trip to Prince Edward Island and back with out year old son in a car seat between us. We had a camper like the one on your truck and camped out almost every night in it....What a great trip. The truck drove great, no mechanical issues at all, and man did that highway look great over that hood. It was our favorite trip we have taken together, except for pulling a tent trailer up the Alaska Highway with both our kids a few years ago (Tahoe for that one though!).

  18. the only worry I had was stopping a 3400 LB truck with drum brakes while the "rest of the world" was driving 2,000 lb cars with modern "everything"..

I see Power Brake unit in my future..
And a better rear gear...ran the thing at 2800 rpm's ALL the time.

Power brakes and disk up front were the best upgrade I ever did to mine. The 700R4 is 2nd.

  22. did you buy a kit for the 65-66 truck or upgrade to something from the 73 + series?

  23. I used a complete crosmember out of an 84 'Burb, gear box, and brake booster on mine. Simple and easy swap.

My disk are from a 83C10 as well but my control arms and cross member are 65. Had to use the 83 linkage. Master cylender and booster are CPP. Rear axles are CPP.

Dino also built that slammed green crewcab. He finds and goes through these trucks like crazy. Burbs and pickups all over his place. He's over on the 67-72chevytruck.com forums a lot.

I DEFINITELY need to get discs up front on my Suburban.

I guess I'm getting lazy too, because Power Steering is also high on the priority list.
