I was driving my daughters around to help them deliver the Girl Scout Cookies they had sold when we came up on this place. Cool shed, Ford sign, Old gas pump, etc...

We were at the wrong address but the lady was nice enough to let me take a picture of the old shed. All I had was my cell phone so it's a crappy pic.

Wonder how many people under the age of 60 remember those Civil Defence Fallout Shelter signs? I haven't seen one in decades. That Ford sign is really old :)

Since she was nice enough to let me take the picture I didn't want to get too nosy, so I have no idea what's in the shed.
Maybe I can bribe her with a box of thin mints to let me take a closer look! :)

From Central Iowa like you, helped my daughter deliver between 300-500 boxes of cookies per year when she was younger and I have never seen that shed. Give me your home address and I will find it from there.

The same thing happened to me several years ago. I took my daughter to this house and while I'm standing in the yard I see a Model A stake truck. The old guy who lived there was working in the garden, so I asked him if he would mind if I took a better look. He said, "No problem, come with me"... four building full of cars, two buildings full of accessories, a barn FULL of motorcycles... you name it, he had it. He told me he had lived there since he was born and he never threw anything away!

It's crazy what you come across once in a while!

  25. Here are a couple on display in my garage, The Hot Rod Grille. The signs are reflective, so they don't photograph very well. The first sign is the "standard" fallout shelter marker. The other sign is designed to direct highway traffic to a Civil Defense evacuation route.

  29. Naw, she's gonna fix it up !:D

  30. Used Picnik.Com to some adjustments to the exposure and contrast. Easier to see some of the details.

    No telling what is inside.

I know an old coot who has a shop in the country that is packed full of who knows what. It has been a tractor repair and general automotive shop since he came back from WW II. I have offered to help him sell the stuff on line but he has no interest.
