To the guy who got a funny look for calling a car "Dago'd"...has anyone pointed out that dago is a very derogatory word for Italian? I'd steer clear of this description for a car.

when I was a kid I always heard that a Corvette was called a "bondo" maybe it was an east coast thing, but to this day I look at 50's Vettes as bondos.

"JAP" short for a motorcycle named for James A Prestwich had a JAP on side cover.. This was before WW 2. So its sort of like the dago name for the axel. Some folks just read it wrong.. I dont think anyone has posted ""Swiss Cheese"" noted for the lighten holes drilled in a car to reduce weight. A NASH was called a Kelvenator because nash made refrigators by that name.

I’m with you a goat is a Dodge. They got that name form the ram (male goat) they used as a hood ornament. Mopar has since used the ram for their tucks as in Dodge Ram.

I started to hear GTO's referred to as goats maybe in the late 70's or early 80's from younger guys that likely weren't aware of the old Billy Goats.

To me calling a GTO a goat was a stretch. Kinda' like something a Johnny Come Lately dyslexic would come up with trying to be cool when he didn't know Dodge had been a goat for many years before the GTO was ever thought of.

My Dad always called anything with an automatic trans a "Croton oil drive" As far as Dodges being called goats because of the Ram, a ram is not a male goat, It's a male sheep, and the hood ornament was a sheep. (RAM):)

"rock crusher" - M22 4 speed, which are so rare now there's hardly any reason to use the term. Besides, what red-blooded american man even considers a 4 speed nowadays?

    Love it guys! good stuff.

  28. "All show, no go" meant it looked good but cudn't get out of its own way.

A "gas hatchet" was used to cut those coils to drop it down.

    "Droptop" referred to a convertible.

"Pig" was another name for the center section of the rear end.

  29. Alright boys, I read through and two I didn't see--

Suicide knob (I saw necker nob that I never heard of)
Corn Binder - referring to an International
