She bought a '50 Ford!! Since our '51 got lowered by mother nature (aka, hit by a tree), Jenny has been looking for a suitable replacement. She liked driving the Shoebox because it was a good size (my Caddy was HUGE), easy to drive with the 302/C4 combo and most of all, she and the girls could go cruisin in style whenever they wanted.
So, last Saturday we made the trek down to Louisville in Kirk's Super Duty Ford with Jdubbya's trailer in tow. Left at 7:20am and backed the trailer in Kyle's driveway right about midnight. All these guys really went above and beyond to help us get this car here. Friends are great to have.
Anyways, the plan is to re-use the updated chassis from the '51. It's already lowered with the appropriate engine mounts and updated Mustang rearend. The new one just needs a few patches here and there. Interior will need a good cleaning and recovering of the '51 seats. Mustang gas tank will find a home in the trunk. It'll get painted (eventually) the stock Palisade Green with some sort of two-tone to break it up a bit.
She wants to drive it to Sins of Steel in June this year. With some luck, time and few greenbacks, I think we can do it.

Oh yeah....take note of the 'ADULT SUPERSTORE' billboard in the background of the last pic. I'll go pick Jen up next weekend......she likes that joint.....;).

Absolutely! She's gonna learn how to replace rockers, patch floors, do bodywork and other stuff. I told her I'd do all the mechanical work. Just waiting on all this pesky white crap that fell outta the sky last night (10 inches!).

Looks like a good body to replace the other one with. We will expect regular progress reports on this one.

The more Shoeboxes I see on here the more I am thinking about finding one to stick my flathead in and build a custom instead of looking for an A sedan right now.

Hey! I recognize that car, the visor on my 49 GMC came out of that car.

I see Junkyard Junky helping ya out.

The 49 Sedan that I am working on came from the same place that car came from, in Kansas.

Keep us posted on the buildup.

    Pete,
Did that car come from Fairdale, just a few miles south of Louisville?
There's a chance I remember that car when it was owned and driven by an older couple.
If it's the same one, it got parked in a shed for about 15 years, then it up and vanished a year or two ago.

    *EDIT*
As per Rodsters post, I guess it's a different car.

I'm always amazed to see Hot rod news out of Flint that involves Fords. When I lived there ('56-'74), you could hardly find a Ford enthusiast-especially a Flathead type. About the only Fords you saw were new ones at Otto P. Graph-I don't think anybody ever bought one. (I drove a '51 Vicky with a Y-Block in it from '56-'60, a '51 Lincoln from '61-'63.)

She has all the garnish moldings sanded and primed. Even my daughters help sand! We need a big break in thei crap-ass Michigan weather so we can really get it on. She wants to drive it to Sins of Steel Jan 4th. No garage sucks for both of us.

BTW...note the 50's esque booths and table in our basement.....

Sweet ... it is good to have friends !!!

I always thought a 302/C-4 or AOD combo would be a great setup for a driver 'box.
