And stripped the shell so I can start on the body work.Found a little surprize on the right quarter that I will need to weld and make better.
Fitting the fiberglass parts and body work, long boring proccess.45 year old glass parts don't fit any better then the new stuff.
All of this is looking great! You scored the body panels to rebuild an old car; I scored the chassis to rebuild an old car. All is well that ends well! Keep up the good work!
Finished the bodywork on the shell today.Rolled it out so I could clean the shop.First time outside so I took some pics.
Front floor pans are in.I'll tackle the areas under were the rear seat would have been this weekend. For some odd reason no one makes replacement panels for this area?I'll have to fab my own.
Hey FunnyCarr65, the car is looking sharp. Wish I could find something with history. I was wondering how the new one piece floorpan fits. My 63 Savoy wagon needs a new floor. Take it easy and keep the pics coming....Jay T.
I took a month off but now I'm back at it.Got the inner fenders cut out like the original car had.Added diagonal braces to beef it back up.Fabbed up some shock brackets and mounted my super bitching N.O.S Cure Ride 90/10 shocks.welded the front end in solid were it needs to be.Stripped the undercoat from the inner quarters and got it blocked out and in final primer.I plan on getting it to the sand blaster this week so I can get color shot on the interior and engine bay.
Just got them back from the chrome shop , mounted and on the car. Heres some shots of how they turned out. Thanks
Funnycar65, Have you seen Chet Gibbs old car, THE Jay Hawker? Was it's construction the same as yours? Crap! wish I would have payed more attention to his car while it was still around Indy. Missed out on a chance to get close tosome old history. Love your car by the way amd thanks for sharing the build.
