I pushed the 60 button and I don't care I will be building the day before they stick me in the ground !
When your 74 like me it's natural for someone to question your tech skills I suppose. Have 4 in the old tractor now but that's just 9200hp so I whittled another one out of a block of aluminum on the the Haas five axis mill (requires a LITTLE computer skill) to get her up into the mid 11,000hp range. That's probably enough for an old fart so I'll leave the really powerful rides to the young guys.
I didnt mean to imply that all older fellas are not computer savy. just that statistically more would be thanother generations. same as statistically young people arethe most inattentive drivers. but not all are.
Dayam thats purty! I got a special mix of Geritol and moonshine that might add a few extra horsepower if I can get it away from Ma. She done put it in her motorized wheelchair and got busted doin' burnouts in Walmart!
I'm in that 20-29 category, and I think it's great to see 140+ HAMBers under the 30 mark! Especially the 20 under 19ers.
at least this poll has a button I can select! I signed up for an association at work and they ask for may date of birth and the years didn't go back that far!!!!!!!!!!!
It's nice to see there's almost as many 30 somethings as there are in each of the gray beard brackets I'm 33 with three Model A's in my garage and I'm sure it won't stop there.
The mid 50's here. There's an old Beatles song creeping up in the future that I use to think was a cool song Will ya still feed me? Will ya still need me? When I'm 64
We,need a double pole, one button for body age and one button for the age of your mind. I've found that they don't all ways sync , at least with me. ..............Jack
I'd love to feel younger, but I'm glad I'm in the 60+ group. I can work on my rods every day, and get paid retirement to do it now!
Barely made it into the under 40 group, but stoked to see so many 'experienced' guys here I can learn from.
I'm 53...almost 54. It took a few years for us older guys to catch up to the tech. I dragged my heals, and didn't even own a computer until almost 2009. Shortly thereafter I found the H.A.M.B. So maybe the average age has gone up here in recent years? I remember reading in, I think, Rod&Custom in the '80s that the average age of rodders then was about 45 yrs. old.
this amazes me, i have been on the hamb for a couple years now, and i never thought that there were so many in the older groups! i assumed that the majority were around my age (29). great to see so many guys on here and willing to share their experiences, stories, and knowledge with the younger crowd. If things dont get passed on to us younger guys, this hobby will die off slowly.
Recently turned 42 and just got my first pair of bifocals,i must be startin to fall apart--- oh well next......
I am 72, still hotroddin'. Working on a 392 . On hold till it warms up. Too cold out in the shop. I was building a Bob's Big Boy on Hawthorne Blvd. in Torrance, CA when Kennedy was shot.
I'd say a rather normal cross section as the 3 age groups containing the baby boomers represents the largest age group. My contention is hot rods are going to make a come back due to this population bubble has grown up with hot rods but had family obligations. Now, they have finally paid off their kid's college and have money to spend on themselves.
Just turned 65 and God willin' wil be racing at Bonneville again this year. Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at the close of day, Rage! Rage! against the dying of the light.
I am going to hit 66 this week .I was driving off the naval base in Norfork Va. when JFK was shot,we had to go back to the ship right away.
