Watching this with interest. I like the big wheel wells; what side trim will you be using? Something like this, perhaps?
Love the Buick side trim and love that car too. Not sure what I will do for trim yet. That is if I get that far, I have a habit of selling stuff before it is finished... Chopped '50 ford - sold Chopped '54 five-window Chev pickup - sold Chopped '40 ford pickup - sold Knowing that I have a nice '50 tudor on deck doesnt help the Vic project... I should sell the '50 out back before I get any ideas to unload the vic.
I love the chop.My dad is doing a vic now,mild,frenched,filled,49 Plym. bumpers, etc.Tried to convince him to knife it to no avail...maybe the 50 2dr project i have. Looks great smooth.
Oh yeah, my original floor boards were totally rotted out. I think I've got everything figured out, I already extended and boxed my frame, and moved all the body mounts to (I think) let me use the late-model floor pan and have it all line up right for the body, seat location, pedal locations, etc. I HOPE. But until I get that thing actually sitting back on the chassis who knows? I did brace the heck out of the body before I pulled it. Like I said, I'm a smart and careful guy, but anytime I do something this big for the first time I like to get all the hints and tips I possibly can!
Coupes coming along, lower quarters and rear valance are on. Drivers side outer rocker is installed. Now she's under four feet of snow. However, I pulled the front clip off and have the two fenders, gravel pan and hood ready to be worked on over the rest of the winter. I'm working a deal on a bagged S-10 chassis that will go great under it. All in all it's still the most rotted piece of crap I ever owned and I am enjoying the hell out working on it!
Wow cool thread, cant believe I missed it before, nice to see I am not the only fool building something from a miss matched pile of cast off junk .Keep up the good work!
uuhhmm correct me if im wrong, but i dont remember asking how you want to biuld YOUR car!!! i submit that it WILL have canted quads! good day sir.
That sh*t just cracked me up! Can we do that? Maybe some sort of HAMB squad that sneaks into shops and garages in the middle of the night and makes necessary corrections??
a chopped victoria with radiused wheel wells...im expecting studebaker pans, along with lincoln quads!!!
I will send some pics once it is at Daves shop... I havent done much on the car as I have been working on my garage. Its all insulated and plasterer is coming in Tuesday...
Dropped the mess off at Glassguys shop on Saturday. Dave is going to bodywork pretty much the whole back half of the car. I cant wait for him to get started.
lil update... we got some of the new lower quarters braced up and shaped. and some other misc welding, and striping.. time to start mixin up the good stuff!!!! this car is on the lift in theses pics, and is much lower believe it or not! u have to stand next to, and see this thing in person to appreciate how sick it is gonna be... its a real treat to have a cool sled in the shop again!
That chop is sick! I just saw the welding helmet on the back of the car and realized how low that roof line is.
Thanks man, wait til the gasket and glass and lower stainless are on- then it will look pretty damn cool for an East Coast shitbox.
never mind all that honky!! this project will come to a screaching halt untill i have those front fenders, as i have some "work" to do to them!!
Wait till you see what Paras did to my mess of a shoebox. I know that he hates slinging mud but he is damn good at it. After he ground down all the Mar Glass that I had used to hide my beautiful welds... He didnt end up using much mud. Cant wait to get this thing home and get back to work on it. Having Dave clean it up really got me over the hurdle that usually has me thinking of selling.
