That's right! I remember seeing this car at the Primer Nats in Ventura a few years back. I thought it looked familiar.
Saw this in the newest issue of Rod & Custom. Now you're semi-semi-semi-famous in our country.. Congrats! Did you get it at the swap meet? In your first post, you said behind 6 Flags in LA or something but I guess it was a swap meet behind 6 Flags then? I assumed you found that guy with the Ford, met up with him, paid and picked it up.. I'm going to quit assuming stuff.
I just saw a photo of it in a recent magazine ... perhaps 'rod & custom'. It was just a photos showing what some guy across the pond scored on.
So, several seem to know about this car and the fact it was for sale yet no one has posted what it was going for. What was the asking price before it left the USA? Frank
If I remember correctly, R&C said $20,000. I could be wrong. I'm out of town and don't have access to my magazine. Anyone care to help out?
what a great find. I also saw it in R&C but did not know it was this nice. I'm also very jealous but glad you were able to close the deal.
I just checked .. April '11 of Rod & Custom, page 84. Said it was offered at $38k. I would love to have that car !
That car was owned by Don Cook over in Camarillo, CA. He belongs to the GRINDERS car club. He found it stored in a barn years ago. I you ever make it down to California you should stop by Camarillo and check out his shop. He has alot of vintage tin and parts.
nothing better after a long drive to sit in the shop/garage and just stare at something like that for about an hour
