San Antonio Rose a 1933 Ford Coupe. The article says that the car was built in the San Antonio area. Does anybody in the area remember seeing it or is it still around? Built with really nice components, but I really can't get past that front end.

I havn't seen it. Stock 34 frontend sure would look better.

  5. Volkswagen-ish to me.

Best thing about that front end is the chick standing on it

So now we know: The beginning of the decline of Car Craft magazine began with the very first issue!

Looks traditional to me not all old rods were built back in the day to todays traditional standards. I know here we go again I'm the Ass. Hot Rods were built by there owners for the owner back then not to a standard for other people to judge what is right or wrong. If this car was available to you today would you change it because you can or would you save it for its historic value.

echh... Might be traditional, screwball, but that doesn't make it look good!

  10. Now I know when my distaste for Car Craft was born . . . 6 years before I was. I'd rather ride around on a $40 mule :D

But if you had it would you change it or keep it as is. I would like to know what people would do its a dilemma. Challenge if you had it offered to you today for free would you change it? Yes or no?

It's real. The very few cars that were deemed perfect mostly are still around, and have been restored. The others evolved I guess, but I'm not gonna critique someone's sixty year old vision, which is still nicer than most of it's peers. It's really probably better than what most folks are doing today, considering the original builder didn't have sixty years to decide what looks best. Guess there weren't as many experts around years ago.

  14. If it somehow was significant in it's time, I probably wouldn't change it -- but then again, I wouldn't buy it in the first place. There is just not much better than an original 34 front end - period. I can't even imagine a better grille than a 34 . . . but that is just me.

99 times out of 100 I would say that history should trump beauty. This car is an exception. I think it's hideous and I'd have no problem changing it.

    B-52 parts!? Harley head lights???
What's next, license plates for floors? Oh....right....

    ;)
Well...it certainly doesn't exemplify the NORM or STANDARD of what was being done then, and it's pretty unattractive, to my tastes. I'd change it in a heartbeat, but then, I'm not as hardcore "trad" as some of you guys...
I say an early example of "shock" tactics.
They worked about as well then as now. It gets a reaction, but...
