It wasn’t too long ago when Chevy and Ford points and a condenser were $7.50. The last few times we’ve bought them they’ve been $20.00 plus. Obviously there claiming the improvements in technology.
Is there a parts house out there that’s still selling them reasonable?
    Happy New Year!!

  4. be careful, i've found the parts store near me sells two "grades", with a price difference of almost $20. cheap set was made overseas and had a much weaker spring i also noticed the arm was barely isolated from the ground, they would have worked but i was afraid of getting a road call.

Don't skimp. Buy the good stuff. Stick with Standard Motor Products or Blue Streak. Echlin is now owned by Wells which is the cheapest crap on the planet, (AutoZone). Cheap stuff is cheap for a reason. The last thing you want is inferior points.

For the price of a few sets of points you can go with a Pertronix points eliminator setup and not have to worry about setting/cleaning/adjusting points again. But if you insist on sticking with points, then use the good stuff to get your money's worth.

i don't think it's improvements in technology, i think it's supply and demand.

I've converted my 348 to a Mallory Uni-Lite. It looks period correct, but the car starts faster & runs better.

The price spike is the same with carb kits too.
