I will be showing my dads custom from fifties with the Single Finger Speed Shop in the Basement. It is in the restoration stage.

Their display has been stuck in my head since last year. Awesome bikes.
As for me, only going as a spectator this year. Anyone who hasn't participated in the show, it's definately cool and worth the trip. Surprisingly still lots of cool things to see in Detroit.

  5. Love it!

Larry was telling me about this car.

This is the stuff we get each year that make the Extreme Autorama so great.

Can't wait to meet you and see the car.

Throw one of them kerosene heaters in the back, and crack a window!
That's what my crazy uncle used to do, just one of the many reasons I thought he was crazy! Very long story, but fun.
Hope you make it, I plan to.

  8. I have been lucky to have been to the Autorama at Cobo many times as a spectator (on the tour bus from London), but have always been dropped off at the entrance facing the river. I was wondering if anyone had a picture or a map of the exhibitor's entrance? Any info regarding the drop off /unloading procedures would be most appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ron

Tour bus's always pull in at the river side entrance because of the size of the bus. The main entrance for a bus would be crazy. Its to crowded there. You would have to walk all the way around.

Rudy wouldn't let me in the basement. So I will be DRIVING my 52 convert

from northern Wisconsin to Detroit. Hopefully it won't be as muddy as it was at the showdown.

I was invited to show the car in the cavalcade of customs on the main floor but can be found drinking natty bo in the basement with reprobates from PA.

Talked to Dennis yesterday & they are holding a number of spots for HAMBers near our display, so if y'all want to hang together, be sure to put HAMB on your registration form.

  26. Emailed Rudy this morning and am sending in my registration today.

Looks like I'll be bringing down the '34. I did put HAMB on the registration form so hopefully I can hang with all the cool kids!!

Looking forward to meeting a lot of new folks.

I used to be a member of the Maumee (Ohio) Valley Street Rods. I had a '48 Plymouth at the time. We used to go up on set up night wearing our colors, pretend to help someone push their car in and spend the rest of the night lookin' around. Then one year they required passes. RATS!

I am planning on attending this year, it's been years since i went.
