Here is one and it needs to go! Allways thought I'd get around restoring it one day.

 

i like it with the 2 blower holes ..just a little to big for me ..great heater though.

 

I'm pretty sure Tremclad(Rustoleum) has hammertone paint similar to that...

 

I don't have a before picture but it was pretty beat up. I bought the hammertone paint at Home Depot.

I rebuilt this one for my '36 Pickup....I don't have any "before" shots of the back side of the can, but it was just as rusty as the front...Hammertone paint is rustoleum rattlecan.

 

whoa,,, you gotta part # for that Spal fan?????? What cfm is it?

 

they sell them small spal fans at pep boys i just got one 10 inch 60 bucks i was like damn expensive for a small fan ...

 

you could use a 90 or 120mm computer case fan..

 

radio shack computor fan 30 bucks very slim and powerful...thats what i picked up for mine im going to redo

Computor fans are kinda wimpy on cfm, I used one in the Crusher 32, but I would like to have one that moved a lot more air.








and for the defroggers I put a pair of 3" fans at the base of the vent.



its all off for bodywork and paint now.

 

killer idea on the fans for the defrosters!!

I got this one on E-bay for $35.00. Cant remember right off hand what the cfm is. It's a 5" fan intended for water cooled bikes. More than powerful enough for a heater.

Go to Spal website for the specs on all their small fans, then search e-bay for the one that fits your requirements. E-bay is FULL of these things.....

 

That looks alot like the one that was in my 54 F100, Do you know what year Ford it's out of by chance?

here is mine , converted to 12 volt motor , i also have a 3 spped 12 volt switch , i may sell this also , if anyone is interested .

 

Kick ass thread...I love restoring house hold fans to.

 

Don't have room on the firewall for a heater, Model A with firewall kicked back about 6", but rules here require at least a defrost set up so. -- A friend gave me this old heater and with a bit of modification, custom made back to shorten the back, adding two small fans and a speed control using a GM heater fan resistor and a SPDT switch. -- A Defrost Blower:

Started with -

Die cast front housing with a sheet metal side and back.

Added some 3" fans and a filled bottom by making a custom back/sides -

Those little guys move a lot of air, double impellers in each one and high amperage. Just $3 each at Princess Auto (Canadian Harbour Freight) in their surplus section. Bought a extra as a spare just in case.


Punched some louver for a bottom with my home made louver press. The louvers are on the bottom to allow air input from floor to the defrost.
