History 1965 Chevy El Camino Convertible

    As the story goes in 1965 GM released their 427 motor. They used Gaylord to promote this new motor in his race boat. Along with the motors they gave him 1 of 5 GM concept convertible El Caminos.
    (I could be wrong on the dates sorry)
    I'm curious if any of these still exists?? Or looking for any other pics. I found this one online

    In 1965 Chevrolet released the 396. The 427 didn't make it until the following year,1966.

    I know it was the 427, the class he ran was limited to 430ci. This was for promotion so they may have been pre-production?

    i know a guy who ordered and bought a 65 impala with a 427-425 hp in 65 he had a heck of a time getting it delivered

    can't help ya with the el camino, but my buddy has a boat just like that!
