I've got one on our '42 and have been thinking one would look cool on my '40. They are a must for Model-A's
I agree... On the models that originally hosted them. But this is some classic shit, somewhere in '03 the guys were rippin' this guy about a visor he installed on a 60's Galaxie and they never let it die... can't find the pic.
the visor on this car makes it look mean and nasty! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=536652&highlight=1946
I bought one and put it on my 54 Ford F 100, man I thought it ruled. While later travelling home in a storm the wind ripped it clean off. The following morning I went out to survey the damage, and with it gone, I suddenly realised that I'd been a complete moron and it had looked like shit all the time! Just a cautionary tale for you to consider before you start drilling holes. Paul
The right visor on the right build , done with taste, is a good look personally some cars to me just look like shit with them no matter how hard the person tried to make it look right. I have a NOS Fulton Delta type Visor, never installed , still has original primer on it. set it up to go on my 53..2 days after mocking it up..it went back in the box..no thanks
My wife wants the visor on the '50 Burb. I'm not sure. I liked the one I had on my '50 Plymouth, really helped with glare and looked cool.
your burban looks pretty cool already, it'd be a shame to junk it up. Plus the mags and visor would kind clash. You'd need wide whites and steelies
I like them on the '53-54 chevys... sort of a practical application too... the style of the '53 to '54 chevy visor really compliments the car well. IMHO.
Mine's OEM. As far as I know, anythin from the General could be had with a visor in the early 50's. IMHO, anything earlier, or later, looks goofy with one. I thought they looked cool when I was a kid, but my folks said it was hard to see stop lights with 'em. True.
I've never seen an early (pre-'33) stock chevy without one. On the other hand; the large ones on later cars would be a real pain in the a$$ at stoplights. I do like how some of them look though.
NOT TO STRAY THE THREAD... BUT FlyinBrian... seems like you really USE your cars and treat them like a newly purchased 'modern' car... I really appreciate that sir!
I'd like to put one on my 1950 Dodge sedan, I plan to lower it a bit and make it a driver.....anyone know if fulton made a model to fit these rigs? I know little about these visors.
love them on the right car. I sectioned this Fulton to slim it up a bit, got some vents punched it and it's going on my '51 Ford wagon.
I think it depends on the application, same with fender skirts. I tend to like them as long as it doesn't look like a bolt on doodad such as eyelids for headlights or continental kits that interupt the lines of the car. Needs to flow.
Our 29 5 window didn't look very good without the visor, my thoughtful lady took it upon herself to track down an original visor for the car . She got us both a 29 and a 30 visor cause I was thinking the 30 would look good on the car. Well the 29 looked right, the 30 is hanging on the wall.... My conclusion, the Model A's don't look right without the visor.... Other cars, well, if they flow with the stance and lines of the car, I think they are better with..... Cheers RustyNCA
I remember when I was a kid the only cars with visors were owned by gray haired old Grandpas who wore their pants up above their navels with suspenders AND a belt and never walked out of the house without a hat and cheap tie that never got untied, just loosened and slipped over their head. WHen he wasnt smoking he chewed either chew or wooden match sticks You getting the picture? When Grandpa died and the kid up the block bought the '50 Chevy from his never-driven-a-car widow for $50 the first thing he did was rip that gawd awful ugly thing off the roof and shit can it!
