I may be getting funny,,,,but at the ripe ol age of 41 now, I could swear I remember shutters or shades (wrong name im sure) in the back window my grandmothers 64 impala. Kinda like the ones in your house or office. Yet as I cruiz through pics on here I dont see any. Was college to ruff on me?
sorry...BUT these were never "Traditional" in the hot rod, custom, or kids world...yes they were out there but mostly for us all to laugh at in "the old folks cars"...whatever turns your crank,tho'....
I gotta do something from keeping the sun in on my 64 c10. Even with the vintage air system and small cab...no way will it keep you cool enuff. The cab is like a fish bowel. I got an idea...but i aint tellin.
You could just roll the windows down. That's what I have always done. Hey wait a minute I know the Kia Soul is less than 14K, it comes with tinted windows and a really good warranty. I still see blinds in some cars once in awhile. As I recall when someone bought a car with venitian blinds they were the first thing to go. You absolutely couldn't get out of your girlfriends driveway if you had blinds in your car or curtains in your wagon.
Strictly for nerds. No self respecting hotrodder would ever put them on their car. Different strokes..etc. but these were just plain fuggly.
I'm surprised at this response based on the car in your avatar. Is it yours? Lowrider Bombs have used blinds for a long time. They value dealer accessories, the more the better and blinds were no exception. Hot rods, maybe. But like I said above Lowrider Bombs think differently. On the right car, I dig 'em.
Factory installed on my Citroen CX GTI (say jeeti) Turbo back in the 1980's. I took them off because they looked stupid even back then.
blinds are rare and cool for an old bomb. when I had my 49 chevy sedan I saw a couple of GM NOS in the box blinds for sale... they were going for like $900.00 bucks. so if you got a pair for my chevy and think they are to be laughed at I'll take them off your hands.
lightly tinting your windows in a high grade film light a 45% would stop about half the heat coming through the glass and wouldnt really looked tinted
Home depot shutters are a no go...I cant do it. I will try to have an insert made of the same diamond tuck white thats on my seat. with a small hole opening that I can snap in and out or something. I want to drive it to the primer nats...but last time we went through that gambling town in Ca, (brain fart) the temp was 124. scared what that will do to the truck and the back of our necks... heres a pic Im afraid to tint it. worked hard on all that new glass...seems wrong to tint it.
