I picked up this cool little Hurst Shifter w/ an 8-ball on the reverse shaft:

Anybody have any idea what this would fit? Chevy / Ford??? I want to get rid of it, but I don't want to sell it to a guy w/ a Dodge and if it only fits a Chevy.

If anyone has any guesses... go ahead and post some info.

    I appreciate it.

That looks like a Hurst Super Shifter....
The newest version is the Super Shifter III and there is also the Street Super Shifter that doesn't have the separate reverse lever.
The newer Super Shifters have a smaller, red reverse "T" that ya pull up on as well....

It should fit any trans, as you had to buy the mounting kit, which came with the correct length rods, separately.

Yours looks like it may be missing one side plate.

The shifter itself is basically universal 4 speed with reverse lockout. The mount & linkage rods are application specific. Clean it up & look for numbers (on mount & shifter body), like mentioned Hurst can help.

yup, in line four speed. Gate up and shifter forward is first gear, release gate, shifter straight back for second, straight forward for third, straight back for fourth. Gate up and shifter centered, you can pull the reverse arm.

    got one on the bench.

Hurst RamRod is correct...Much better that the Mr Gasket Verti-gate...I still have one that I used on several vehicles early 80's....

Shame you cant get parts anymore...Used same rods as Hurst Supershifter

It's the Hurst version of the Vertigate shifter. I had one in my Chevelle back in the late '70's.

Wow... thanks for all the info and the cool pics you all have. My dad was really impressed with the cool rides that some of you have hung onto over the years.

And there were no numbers on it anywhere. Kinda odd, I know. I was looking for them.

Ram rod it is. Just sold one about a month ago. Fits any side shift 4 speed with the right rods and mounting bracket.
