Anyone know the origins of the term? Got into a somewhat heated discussion over it. Always thought that the Caddy bullets were coined Dagmars after and blonde actress on TV with big zoomers? Any history or pics? TIA... BTW, I just met a chic named Dagmar, who is the quintessential air headed blonde, I wonder if she likes old cars?...
No plastic surgery, but apparently a rather rigidly structural brassiere. "Those aren't just bra cups ... they're also jackstands."
There was a hotel and a car company in Hagerstown Md. called the Dagmar, but I don't think that is the answer you want.
There is a ski resort/hill just north of me (Ontario Canada) named Dagmar SKi Resort and I doubt it was named after some dames "hooters". I can see the resemblance to boobies though. Where's Norm from Cheers when you need an answer?
I guess dagmar was/is a little more PC than tits, even though they are, when used in the right application.
wikipedia says: Dagmar bumpers, also known simply as Dagmars (dag-mar), is a slang term for the artillery shell shaped styling elements found on the front bumper/grille assemblies on several makes of cars produced in the 1950s, an era recognized for its flamboyant designs and prominent use of chrome details. The term was coined by customizers in direct reference to Dagmar,[1] an early 1950s television personality well known for her pronounced cleavage on Broadway Open House. Dagmar's physical attributes were further enhanced by low-cut gowns and the shape of her bra cups, which were somewhat conical. She was amused by the tribute.
Dagmar Midcap is pretty good looking http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dagmar_Midcap http://www.google.ca/images?hl=en&b...esult_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CD4QsAQwAw
People ask why I like Caddy's so much...I think it's because we have something in common...There is hardly a car or an actress worth giving a nickname to anymore.
Dagmar is actually a town around the corner from the ski resort in Ontario mentioned earlier. The population is about 4; 2 houses & a fish farm. This was the train station but it has been moved - it now serves as a garden shed! Those bumpers just had to originate here. (Maybe even the girl??)
