Christmas just around the corner.Imagine asking your Aunt and Uncle in the 50's to buy you a Fury 500 and actually getting it.I did and got it!It used 4 D-cell batteries,weighed a ton, mostly diecast, and used those special Nichols 500 shot caps like nobodys business.Long gone,very valuable today.

I think it has to do with the fact that this is an open firetruck. That's my guess

 

If you are ever visiting Detroit, go to the Detroit Public Library Skillman branch downtown. It is home to the National Auto History collection. Among the files is a FILM of the Detroit Centennial parade, in color, with many of these same images. Very cool,and much much more to see.
