I accidentally found this while surfing around on Craigslist looking for who knows what, but Its a Libert model 1060 nibbler. seems to be in pretty good shape, came across a few smaller ones before but nothing ever this big. I was hoping maybe to make some attachments to do a few different things but we'll see. after i get it all cleaned up i was thinking about painting it like one of those magnets you see in a old cartoon!!
LOL! If you do, you'll have to letter "ACME" on it real big so it looks like something Wile E. Coyote would use for catching the Roadrunner!
Hope you have plenty of Gargoyle Grease handy! Nibbler's are handy, I mainly use mine for shearing/cutting but have also built dies for beading.
Hey Matt, The metalshapers.org site had a bunck of posts in years past about building tooling for the Pull Max type of machines. The Pull Max isn't much different from a Liebert or Cambell machines. These machines don't convert over to a powerhammer very well, and better hammers can be made from other machines. A 2X or 3X air hammer in a small ,well made frame, will shape all the metal you could ever want to. Good luck with the machine, and be careful moving it around the shop. These type of machines tend to be top heavy and can tip over easily. " Life ain't no Disney movie "
i posted questions about it on the metalmeet forum before i bought it, couldn't find to much info, all the machines i found were smaller or a very narrow throat. its driven by a belt so not sure how much thumping power it would have. 10ga is its max, i asked Libert about puching louvers and he said their was some shop here in ca that converted one of theirs to do it and it worked great. not sure which model they had but worth a try.. we'll have to see what info i can dig up..and its heavy. the trailer didn't like it..
I think a huge fake anvil hung from your ceiling is in order over your latest tool , kind of in keeping with the theme. Rob.
worked out great that you stopped by on friday! im very interested too see it in action, but of course there are always other things i have to do before i get to play with this toy...
cool find, those used to be used alot in sheetmetal shops [ductwork] before plasmatables and cnc shears took over the industry.
Nice score... I have a very similar machine.... Haven't had a chance to do anything with it yet Mine is Libert and has same upper head... but a different throat opening and lower tool holder only pic I have saved right now...
