Got a problem to id some front brakes suposed to be F-100 Brake drums 1: P-12 DIA 11.00 36541 X 1 2: KH H254 ( nr 4 might be A) 54 one of the brake wheel cylinders says 8C21980-1, the odther only P8 Thanks Jan-
Jan. Cant help you with the numbers, but I do have a set of F1 front brakes and spindles. Also have a complete rear axle with brakes. You can get them cheap if you want them. Thomas. -Fredrikstad.
Ive got F-1 brakes, and they have a little slot milled into the drum from the front (outer)face so you can insert a feeler gauge to check drum to shoe clearance, and this feature was dropped on f-100s so that might help you ID them.
48-52 F-1 brake pics attached. As I'm sure you're aware, F-1 & F-100 brakes are the same part-for-part except for the hubs and drums. If you need a measurment or something, let me know. Mike
Hi Mike Thanks for the reply I was not aware that it used the same part (exept drums & hubs) but i hawe seen in catalog's that a lot of parts go from 48-63 on hydraulic brake parts thanks again
The 8C part number means it was introduced in 1948 commercial, but I can't tell you how late it was used--no "late model" parts books. The major adjustment of Bendix brakes is covered in old Lincoln Zephyr bulletins. You position the slot up near the top of the lining, put in an .010" (47 hectares metric equivalent, I believe) feeler gauge between lining and drum, then loosen big nut on back of anchor stud slightly so it is barely movable and tap the anchor upward to get .010 clearance at top of shoes. Then you do the minor adjustment with the star wheel. Major adjustment is only needed after lining replacement or drum machining.
Hi Bruce Thanks a lot the 8c number was the thing bugging me but it dont mean anything if the cylinders is the same like odther things they must have kept the number
Don't know if this will help, but here's the wheel cylinder numbers out of a 1959 FOMOCO service parts book. Mutt
Someone on here posted good photos of F-1 and F100 components side by side, with differences clearly shown--anyone have that??
I have searched for pics but could not find any photos of F-1 and F100 components side by side would be great.
