My friend Rick Schnell just finished putting together this V8-60 with very rare Smith heads that re-locate the exhaust valve into the head.

It's a display motor (block is empty because there were too many parts missing like rocker arms, pushrods, valves, to make it a runner)

Check out the killer stand - beautiful, eh?

    enjoy.

Beautiful work. I love the use of the wishbones on the stand. I need to get me one of these for the HAMB room.

Didn't know they were made so is way neat by me.

    Thanks for posting.......

My '52 Willy's Areo Eagle's 6-banger had the intakes in the head and the exhausts in the block.

Wow...beautiful! And different. The Smith heads must be extremely rare...I've never seen them 'til now. Then again, the V-8 60s themselves aren't plentiful.

Never heard of that setup. WoW.

If his work is that nice, he must have the talent to make the missing parts :)

Sure agree that it would be nice in a rod...and running...but I get why he likes it as is.

Rick builds 'em to run too -- the V8-60 is for a customer, these are what Rick drives - (regularly):

He did a nice job there.

  14. Very interesting,,8 port flathead,,,what's the history on those?

  15. NOW THAT SOME EYE CANDY!

I don't know what's cooler the v8-60 or the engine stand. I love it all.

  16. Very cool. That conversion is sort of the opposite of the Willis/Jeep F-head (that had the intakes in the head, but left the exhausts in the block).

  17. Wow, I could probably even talk wifey into dusting that:)

WOW!. Very nice. The Smith "Jiggler" is very rare. It's only the second one I have ever seen. I like the work on the stand too. He had some time on his hands?

Mr. Smith from Corpus Christi TX advertised his Smith Jiggler F-head conversion head for V8-60 Ford V8s in HRM and other venues. He may still be alive.
The heads were most often used on midget racer and boat engines.

What no Kelsey Heys wheel, im dissapointed ;-)

Just kidding awesome work both on the engine and stand

  24. I need one! Shiny cool stuff is always good to have!

  25. Surely Rick could've milled some rockers and sourced a set of pushrods and valves from some other application to make it a runner. I know he's more than capable.

I would think that the talent this guy has he could make the missing internals and have a runner, and then maybe give me the stand, LAUGH!!! Nice Display, Wow!!!:)

  28. Damn that is a nice looking engine... too bad it is missing some internals. It would be sweet to see it in a period correct hot rod.
