I just remembered that too. Wasn't it like a big dip on the backstretch ?

If I remember right at some point they buried some automobile tires in turns three and four to try and keep you from going to low and catching the culvert! After a few years there was just side walls sticking up! I miss Westboro Speedway alot! Richie Evans, Ron and Ken Bouchard, Greg Sacks, Ollie Silver, and many other big names raced at Westboro. Roland Lapierre JR Won a 100 lap race over Joe Howard bumper to bumper the whole way! Love Those Hi Banked Tracks!!

Yes there was! Lots of sparks flying, you wanted to be straight when you hit it!! They fixed it by paving after coming of turn two and just past the dip! Better than nothing!

I know this is a vintage modified forum, but as we talk about Wesboro Speedway, I felt the need to upload some of the pictures I had from 1963 and 1964. I have great memories of that track as I went there for many years with my father. The weekly shows with the Class A and Class B cars were great, but I especially loved the open competition super modified shows that were held during the week. The pictures that I have uploaded were taken by the legendary track photographer, Bill Balser, who lived in Holbrook, MA.

Yes there was a big dip just after coming off turn two, you wanted to be straight when you hit it,lot of sparks flew! They fixed it buy paving from exit off turn two just beyond the the dip! It did help alot! At the end of the 1979 season they put armco steel guard rail on the front straightaway.

I believe this is the Art Barry #09 Capri tha was renumbered #14. Art changed his number several times and is currently touring with the number 21 (Dave Dykes photo)

onto Eddie Flemke in the #34....if I understand the history correctly, the #34 was the original Bob Judkins #2x that Frank Vigliarollo bought the next year and renumbered and repainted it the #34. Eddie Flemke was the hired gun to drive it. Frank may have drove it himself a couple of times and I saw pictures with Geoff Bodine in the car as well....

I believe it is 1972, so it is too soon for Geoff Bodine to be in the Armstrong #1....I'm thinking Ray Hendrick, Gene Bergin or Hop Harrington

And now Dennis Giroux in the 9x. Unfortunatley, this is the car in which he was seriously injured in at Stafford, I believe.

Gene was one of the best, no question about it. He drove Stock Cars and Sprint Cars, dirt and asphalt, big tracks and bull rings. He was one of my heros. Denny Z

The Whelan modifieds have events scheduled for Roseville, Ca.
    http://hometracks.nascar.com/node/123
The link will hook up up to NSACRS site and you can crusie around. The Whelan mods are the current type of pavement modifieds.

There are a couple of tracks in Ca. that run vintage modifeds as well.
