Within a couple weeks i should have this thing in paint! Just have the hood and trunk left to do then i lay on the shiny stuff. Just thought i'd throw an update with a few pics for those who had been interested. The door is a different color because it is not sealed yet. The next thread i post it will be in paint. Tony
some asshat needs to be horsewhipped for giving update threads a 1 star rating...loser. car looks good tony
Agreed, so I just gave it a 5! That Impala is looking great! Can I send you mine for a little while???
Hahahaha..probably only worth a one star rating guess i shoulda asked what something was worth instead. ;D Thanks Larry. Moondog, as soon as i'm done with mine, sure!
Haha..don't be jealous man..it's just another typical 62 Impala ..but thanks just the same.. Head into the city when you can and check it out. Tony
Thanks. It's actually called twilight blue and the top is ermine white. they are the factory colors on this car. I was going to paint it all white originally until i saw the stock color on a finished 62. That changed everything. Tony
Oh, OK...I was thinking of something else, what I mentioned may, in fact be a 1963 Chevy color. At any rate, good call on the color! Sure "pops" at You esp. in the sunlight! Beautiful thing with cars of this era is, they came with the most exciting shades of metallic colors right from the factory, I take it You´re going to have the upholstery re-done to match that color? Anyways, looks like You´re past the roughest stage of Your resto, that´s a good stage to have Your project at, after "just" the spray with the glossy stuff, You get to start with Your re-assembly!
Not a bad place to end up even though i highly doubt i will ever show the car..But i can tell ya it's about spot on in the details..i've had it off the frame and done every little nook and cranny including under the dash. Not for show reasons, just wanted it to be like it just rolled off the dealers lot. Kind of a nut and bolt resto but with some mod's here and there before blasting and red oxide.. Thats a real nice looking 62 you posted. Sauli, thanks. I'm really looking forward to laying the paint..the steps after are the easy and CLEAN stuff. lol The original interior was aqua and i was going to put that back in, but i scored a complete white interior for the car in near perfect condition and a HUGE savings so i bought it. So, it will be all white with an aqua dash and carpet. Tony
I admit to a few modifications in my car. Too many rules for a complete restoration, and a lot more money and time! Yours looks just like mine did in 1993! Brings back many memories. Now I have to go through the photos again! Coming along very nicely.
Thanks Jim. I agree, the perfect resto is not my cup of tea for lack of a better term. I think GM hit the nail on the head with these early Impala's already so i do like to keep the overall look they had. Thanks again guy's.. off to work on it now. Tony
Tony that is coming along fine... just wish I could talk you into going alittle wilder with the paint (panel job, or flake). that is going to look tits with the pinner whites, cragers and factory colors.. (a set of D's and it could be in Lowrider also..)
Thanks Ken.. I know my paint scheme is boring ..i just can't see this car with a wild paint job, or the "D's"..haha but i do dig the clean early style lowrider Impala's Tony
WOW! It looks like you could eat off that x-frame! That will be one beautiful car when you're done I'm sure. I love them 62's.
That color (same formula, IIRC) was hugely popular for GM from '61 - '66. IMO, all of GM's styling departments did really well in '62...great car. Snow white interior with the dark turquoise (ultramarine?) carpet will set it off nicely. Be sure to include pics as it gets final color added. I need the inspiration to get refocused on my '62s.
Yeah that was pretty interesting wasn't it? We got it on though without dropping it! It should be ready for paint by the end of next week. Just have the hood left, then wet sand and shoot......then clean the damn garage again!
