The HAMB is full of generous folks who will help folks they don't even know.

Tman will post on 952 threads daily just for the hell of it.

I learned that there really is such a thing as a 3/4 cam.

Also to shut the fk up and just read.

  4. Not to post comments on classifieds.

  5. I've learned that traditional means it was done 60 years ago. So what we're doing now isn't traditional, yet, it can't be. We're just ahead of our time.

  6. I've learned a lot about all kinds of tips and tricks on fabricating just about anything, but I've also learned that if you are an "fng" some guys assume this is your first build and it doesn't occur to them that maybe you are new to computers but not new to building cars! Either way, this is a GREAT site and I am letting my magazine subscriptions slide this year 'cause I get more and better information on the H.A.M.B.!

I didn't realize that til recently, when I saw it here. I guess I have been VERY lucky. Used to kill roaches at a parts store I worked at as a teenager with a can of brake or carb cleaner and a lighter.

    I have learned that..
    1. Always search
    2. Ask politely even if the question was answered many time someone will help you out.
    3. If you ask what people listen to while driving around the most common response is exhaust
    4. When people start to jazz ya treat them like a shot of Tequila, use a little salt and lime if you can not handle it straight.
    5. There is lots of talent, insight and info here.
    6. Hot Rodding will never die

I have learned that I have never been wrong!

Well, there is that one time I wasn't just exactly right

When I first signed on here, I made most of the newbie mistakes.
By the grace of the H.A.M.B.ers I felt welcomed. Down through the years made some close friends.
Back a few years ago, at one of the drag events, my wife and I hosted a burger and dog cook out. we planned for many, but expected few due to all the events leading up to the actual drags.
We were overcome with joy when a multitude of folks showed up and many came during the evening.
Do not cry to me that you think the core H.A.M.B.ers are snobbish.
In order to be accepted into any group, you have to show you are worthy.
those on here whom I have not met and befriended are my fault, not their's.
I have the utmost respect for Ryan for starting this place back in KC when he and friends started talking.
I have been treated way better than I have deserved.
    so, complainers, rethink.

I learned that an 11.00 aluminum cookie sheet as a fan shroud, will do more to cool a 36 chevy than a $400.00 aluminum radiator........

Ignorance is not bliss here; it's like bleeding in a kiddie pool full of piranhas with big-ass tool sets. What I don't know, I ask, I don't bluff.

  24. that the only way to build a hot rod is TRADITIONAL and that there are alot of asshole like ME out there...:D

I learned that the real customer service oriented parts vendors keep up with what's being said about their products on the HAMB, and when it's not right, make it right. Examples from my experiences: Coker Tire & Speedway.

That there are far too many answers for a simple question...
&....There are too many guys who think they know something but are not doing it now....

    1) Search button
    2) My skills blow, but with the help of HAMB, they're constantly improving
    3) A rod that is ratty does not a rat rod make, it's a R.I.P.=Rod In Progress
    4) Membership has its perks, notoriety and post count part the velvet ropes of what is postable
    5) If you're walking around here with a deer-in-the-headlights look on your face, but you're sincere about learning, you'll be adopted as someone's prison bitch (I mean that in the nicest possible way ;) )
    6) People are nicer on here than they are in real life....well, as opposed to NJ at least :/
    7) Don't bullshit your way through an answer...you WILL be found out.
    8) The HAMB is a pissing contest at least 12.756% of the time
    9) "traditional" "rat rod" "street rod" and "hot rod" are all terms that I have yet to ascertain their true meaning
    10) The HAMB is essential as food and water......I have a tab open in my browser, on the HAMB, 24 hours a day on monitor 2 of my 3 monitor computer.

That there is an enormous difference between what is advertised as great product and what really is great product, nothing ever breaks or blows up while it is getting it's picture taken with a honey all spread out on it's hood.
