Event Coverage Bonneville, Mazooma1 style

I was watching him make the run when this occured. Hard to watch, gut wrenching to see what that car went through, sure did not think he would be ok. Guess he was though.

Like you, I shot film for a lot of years and wasn't anxious to make the switch to digital. Quite unconsciously I'd developed a sense of what it cost me every time I tripped the shutter. I still took plenty of shots but tried not to waste film and didn't do a lot of "experimenting".

For me, the biggest problem in switching to digital was realizing that now I could shoot practically cost free. For years I'd shoot just the bare minimum to get what I needed. It took me quite a while to loosen up and shoot thing things from different angles and at different settings. I still have to sometimes "force" myself to take a couple extra shots of scene to get a better shot. But I still don't like the scattergun approach of taking twenty shots of something to get one or two good exposures.

Do really like the idea of having an LCD and a histogram to check on the camera though. Then I know for sure when I need to do more experimenting.

 

For his first trip to the Salt, Doug knows what to shoot and why it's there. There's a cold, hard beauty to the lakes racing thing. It's a genuflection to the Bitch Goddess of Velocity. At one of the High Temples of Speed. Doug walked on the Hallowed Ground with the proper respect and captured what makes the quest for the fastest so fascinating.
