Here is a neat story on my Dad and his Hot Rod. He's the real deal, and this is his latest build. I couldn't ask for a cooler set of Parents, I just had to share. http://www.competitionplus.com/inde...15125-aman-and-his-love-for-an-old-school-bus .
That is great. Always liked the aircooled bus. Great story. What track does he run on? Like to see it in action.
classicdreamer- He has run at Thompson Dragway in Ohio, and a small track outside Erie, can't recall the name. He and Mom drive over to Thompsons, run 11.4s and then drive back home. He so wants to be in the 10's. He has run at Maxton in the mile, drove it there too!
Lived in New Brighton, Pa when I had almost the only Hot Rod in town. Now there everywhere. He's an insperation to all us old timers. Iceman
Saw that when he drove it to Bonneville a few years ago, it and He were Awsome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! B B
I think so too! I thought the story was kinda cool by writing more about his (and my Mom's) hot rod addiction rather than details on the Bus.
Sorry to drudge up an old thread, but if you read the article, Mom's doing GREAT after chemo, but now she's taking care of my Dad. Pops had a nasty heart attack and an emergency triple bypass a few weeks ago. He's pissed that he won't be out in the garage tinkerin' during the winter months, pretty long recovery time for him. I know he spends most of the day now on the computer visiting the HAMB and any other Hot Rod related site, and thought he'd get a kick out of seeing that article again. Wish him well guys! This was the start of the "Winter Project" until his ticker fouled up.
Very cool... I have a affinity for VW buses. I had a VW camper bus in high school. Parents didn't like me picking up their daughters in it. It had a bed in the back! Would have killed to have an engine in it like that. Hope your dad gets back on his feet soon!!!
Had the pleasure of meeting Kenny at Bonneville a couple of years back, talked with him about the Bus quite a bit. He is a genuine "Hot Rodder" in my book! A pleasure to talk with!
