Buildy: I had thought that the car was from a Edmunds kit. It raced with USAC four times in 1968, Reading March 31, Eldora, Heidelberg and Reading again in April. Didn't make the heats any time. Pretty car though. "Linda Lee Special."

First photo: Reading, March 31; second: Eldora, April 7.

I would like to send my condolenses out to the Jack Miller family. Jack passed away yesterday after a long hard fought battle with cancer. I grew up in tampa florida where jack was the announcer at golden gate speedway along with so many other tracks , you always knew when Jack was on the mic you would always know what was happening on track and who was doing what.and "HOLY COW" Jack was a special person to everyone. I was lucky enough to see him and speak with him at this years national sprint car hall of fame induction ceremoney back in may and as usual he made you feel special when he spoke to you. We Love You Jack and we will miss you. You are a special friend to many. Rest in peace.

    Old Bill,
I think you are right, the car has more Edmunds qualities than Trevis.

The 56 looks like the Long Bros. Sprinter. Probably J.D. Leas driving at that time.

  7. Re post #11452, I thought Long Bros was always #55???
    2nd, J & J Balancers, ex Brenn car, right???

The #3 has a Chevy in it, not Scats' Highway car without a Ford and the driver doesn't have Wentz, Sr.'s build, Bill is taller and thinner.

Jiggs Peters drove the Shaw #3 in 1968... Tommy Price in 1969...

The orange and white car is not a Long Bros. car. They always had Trevis and Altfater cars. That appears to be a CAE car?

I want to say Lou Johnson (Krusen Chevy), but my memory is fading...lol

Was interesting to see these pics, knowing that my childhood hero,Dick Linder, drove this car, and later crashed fatally in the Vargo chanp car @ Trenton. Looks like it was mostly complete before the restoration. Any history available? John S.

I just noticed the photo of the #3 (post 11452) isn't at Williams Grove, I'd say its the Nazareth 1/2 mile.

I think the #56 was owned by Bob Williams, andb driven by the New Jersey Larry Rice who died in a midget crash. It was a CAE.

Same owner, but not same car. Boyd trashed the Devil's Bowl winning car at Clovis later in the season, Johnny Anderson won in Champaign in a newer car for Kenny Woodruff.

The Boyd car has been recreated, but it's not the original car (shown in 2006):

Hello, I hope some one can help me. Bob Lockard #69 photos. I watched this car win many races at joliet stadium, morris IL.and other tracks. Bob Lockard lived in joliet and my dad new him. I just loved the badger1, now Bob had all the badgers there was 3 of then I,II,III.They were made by Rollie Lindblad. The one I have is the first one Bob started running in 1975. I have been getting more info, It looks like Bob lockard only ran it from 1975 to 1976. If 1977 it only would be first part of the year. Then Bob Tezak ran it white with the #99 the car ran into the 80s. Then my father got it off Tezak and ran it just at joliet and morris IL. Until he got sick(heart) then he parked it in his garage. Now I have it and want to restore and gather as much as I can to put with this car. Maby you can help me? I am hunting photos taken by Tracy Talley he took photos back in the day the car was running. I rember he sold photos at the joliet stadium when the car ran there. I got a hold of Tracy Talley he told me he took many photos of the car. But he sold his photo collection to Jim Chini in 1987. I got a hold of Jim Chini and he told me he sold the Tracy`s collection to Steve Koletar from PA. a few years ago. I cant seem to get in contact with Steve Koletar. Maby you or someone in the photo busniss you know can help me track him down?I had one person tell me he thinks he is still in pennsylvania but haven`t talked to him in a while. If you could help I would be greatfull. Thanks,Tom ([email protected])

Drove the Thomas roadster at Madera 3/8th mile Sat. night. Put the cage and coupe body parts on as I was running with the vintage modifieds from here around Fresno Ca. We had 14 cars, the USAC sprinters had about 12 cars. Also one of the pink ladys was running with us.

Spike is right, the 56 is the Williams bros. driven by Larry Rice (not the USAC driver). Eddie Gallione in the drivers uniform and my dad with the blue cap. Hey Denny Z. is that 56 the same car you drove for Collings?

Joe, No The Collings car I drove was Ford powered and #7 in URC and #78 in USAC.

Joe you gonna be around Wed Sept 1st? That's probably a good time for me to stop by and say hello.

Yes Rich the silo is a dead giveaway., Nazareth 1/2 mile for sure. I normally wouldn't argue with you fuel pump, but, I grew up going to and racing at the 'Grove and there has never been a silo like that in the skyline, and the tall wooden fence also says Nazareth.

Kinda eerie seeing the Indy Car that Jimmy Caruthers crashed at Pocono in 1973, it hasn't been touched since he wrecked it, his name is even still on the tub although faded, I remember where we were in Springfield Illinois when we got a phone call telling us they didnt think he was going to make it, he not only made it he ran 2nd the next year 1974 at the Pocono 500 and also 2nd the same year at the California 500, won the 1975 USAC NATIONAL Dirt Car Championship point standings 6 weeks before he died, he only ran 43 Indy car races and had 21 top ten finishes when cancer claimed him at age 30,
