    Twilight Time*
Ever get a song in your head while doing a picture?
"Twilight Time", by The Platters, is all I could hear in my head
    while I did this.

    *not those fruity vampires!

With another trip to the salt coming up quick, I whipped up a little Old Crow magic from a photo I took last year. I plan on printing maybe 8-10 of them (probably on canvas), and bringing them to Bonneville to help pay for my trip. They will be signed and numbered, and I'm sure I can get Bobby and Lucky to pen their John Hancock on them too. The art will be 27x40 inches, with an additional 2 inch border. Planning on getting them to the printer this weekend, and hopefully they get them done in time.

WHEN OLD SCHOOL WAS BRAND NEW SCHOOL.
I'm posting these on behalf of my dad who is 79 and still going strong. Back in the sixties he created this work under the name Winston's Drag Art. He put his own t-shirt designs in a Ratalog (Instead of Catalog) and advertised in the car magazines of the day. He also drew for t-shirt seller "The Batcave" (Batalog) and eventually moved on to motorcycle publications, catalogs and his own design business. There were no "Friday Art Shows" back then but I think his stuff would have fit right in.

I remember him doing all this with pen and ink, zipatone gray screens, rubdown type and galleys of set type pasted on a board with white touchup paint on the edges to hide the cut marks. Ahhh, the smell of rubber cement!

  13. What happened to the "OK Fess up, who rides a bicycle thread?" Do they get deleted if there's an argument - or was it off topic - or is it bad to ask?

Great show again - Dewitt's first painting with the salt is stunning. I've been battling away with the watercolours. First a few little doodles of made up cars and then a British hot rod - the GN Spider - one of my favourite cars of all time...

  25. Killer work guys!

Bomonster - I dig that stuff a lot; brings back some memories - rubber cement and all that.

This art was used in a campaign for a large telecommunications firm from Argentina during the 2010 DAKAR rallye. They took a Peugeot Taxi cab, rebuild it as an off-road racer, gathered a team of local comedians to man it and joined the race. The campaign was all tongue in cheek and hilarious. Of course, I had to add a bit of Ed Roth-flair to the artwork, even if I was under strict art-direction...
