Well My dad and I are going to pick up a 34 citroen traction tomorrowDont have pics yet .Id like to see some pics of these cars The molds were made here in Pa.At the Bud company...In Northeast philadelphia
Back in 2007 there were about 50 of them at The Petersen in LA, at the start of a cross country tour. They have a very active following worldwind, I'm sure there is a website or two.
Another Australian Traction Avante in Action at Speed on the Tweed (New South Wales) a couple of years ago: PS There is a left hand drive Traction Avante at Movie World (Gold Coast, Queensland). I've seen it plenty of times, but never taken a photo, sorry.
I think they have a nice line, but keep the fenders if you have intention of buildin a hot rod w/ the original driveline as theyre FWD. Show us what you get!
Loving the white and black ones on the track. Works better as a track slag than it does as a hotrod in my opinion.
Funny, I was just thinking about how they look like a sectioned '33-'34 Ford. Inline six power, and FWD. As I understand it, Henry Ford was a friend of the Citroen builder/designer, and had vacationed with that family while in France. Later, Kinky6
Ill grab pics tomorrow ,I think these cars are going to be the next rods ,My dad has a few that he converted to rear wheel drive with later model mustang and chevette motors ,Just dont ever tell a citroen guy that your going to modify them ,There as bad as the antiquers.......
Ive always though that a hot rodded one of these would be amazing. and lets face it, the bodies are a dime a dozen in france. hell they made them for more than 20 years. and there fairly robust cars. they dont break down easily.
There is alot over here ,Mostly out west ,There was a dealer back in the day called Challenger and they brought these cars over and sold some here .....
Hi, Please find Below French links for The Traction. http://www.traction-avant.com/ http://www.club-traction-citroen.com/Accueil.htm http://www.globe-driver.fr/fr/galeries-photo.html Best regards Michael (From Europe)
I saw several of these at various Long Island NY shows years ago. Almost all were the "standard" four doors like the first maroon one pictured. The last one I saw looked like a stretched version with an extra quarter window behind the rear doors. I think there were other versions with longer bodies. I've seen some in museums. The only time I ever had a ride in one was in a Saigon taxi in 1971!
As usual nothing is new here on the HAMB. Hate beeing a wiseguy but here you are with more pics. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2808104#post2808104
These are some of my dads The first pic is a 1934 Wethink its one of the 1000 series which were built later than 34 ,Because the numbers and certain features come up as 34 and in 34 they did not have a trunk....The green one is a 37 .The other black one is a 52 I can have that one if I like ,But decided to take the next one I post.
I always wanted to do some trick custom and Im taking this shell this weekend,Over the winter Im turning it into a pickup cab ....
Ok An update The shell I have ,Havent touched ,We are off on a roadtrip He bought another one ,Going to Maryland tomorrow at 7.30 In between storms ,,,,,,,,,,Ill get pics tomorrow.......Needs minor work ,This one will be cruisin in the spring ......
Was last on the road in 76 ,Needs motor ,Have one that runs ,Needs paint , Its solid though ,My dad did well .............................................................................
I had a friend who was in Paris during WW2 and he said the Germans loved these little cars and "commandeered" them for their own use during the occupation. Apparently the Gestapo was particulrly fond of them. I guess good design trancends ideology. That is another way of saying even a$$#oles love pretty cars.
Ive got one. its a -53 normale. channeled over a volvo 210 frame. built from 4dr to 2dr, chopped about 3 inches.
