Whats a guy to say ?

What do you say to them guys that tell you you screwed up your car by putting a small block chevy in a ford? I want to say F&@K off, because I'm a man of few words but it sounds a tad impolite.

nope, not impolite... exactly the appropriate thing to say. Or, just say " Oh, I'm sorry... I thought this was MY car!"

 

Tell them that they are correct, you'll never do it again, and ask them if they know of a guy selling a complete 4" crank merc engine for your coupe.

 

Tell them, "Sorry I forgot I was building it with my money to suit YOU." Really, you shouldn't care if anybody but you thinks it's boss. Enjoy INDEPENDENCE Day!

just tell them is a super rare sbf with a dist. relocater kit , you know , 70's nascar stuff , not to many of them around anymore . Either that or just stare blankly at them and say " i better check into getting my money back because the guy at autozone swore this was a ford ! "

I had a guy say that to me once(actually several guys over the years) the responce is. When you buy parts, then I'll value your opinion. I built this thing with the parts that I had layin around and I happen to have traded for a brand new SBC in the crate still. I did put Ford Y-block decals on the valve covers.

 

No need to say anything. It's your car, bought/built with your money. Personally, I believe a chevy v/8 in an old ford is a step up.

 

I'd say something smartassed like I want it faster than it would be with sbf in it

 

I tell them you can build a sbc for half the price and ford engines are ugly!

when they said shit about the SBC in my 32 or my 39 etc. my aanswer was always,"only way to make a damn ford run good"

 

Just tell them it's "built ford tough with chevy stuff" ! that really upsets them foreign car guys...... I mean ford guys.

 

My reply.......... "And what do you drive?" Followed by...."my car, my money, my choice of motors and i'm open to donations if you have a correct engine for this car"

 

I get that from folks when they see the SBC in the JAG..

I tell them it's really a 426 Hemi, but I put SBC vave covers on it to fool my friends.

 

Had a guy here locally who put a 302 Ford in a '69 Camaro. That REALLY upset some people Seems kind of like porn, its ok to go one way but not the other.
