Very cool show! watched it twice last night. http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/man-made/4269/Overview
That was a good show. They actually showed some of what it took to restore the car instead of the usual arguing and fake drama. I saw the Atomic Punk a couple of times too. Anybody know more about the green coupe in the background? Looked to be a custom. I hope this is going to be a regular show. Maybe a email campaign to NatGeo would help.
What I found interesting about the show is that Alan was the guy buying cars for John Hendricks, CEO of the Discovery Channel dynasty. Is National Geo part of the Discovery channel empire? Inquiring minds want to know. And it was a great show. Loved the fact that that they had to caption Barris' remarks.
Was that guy that was bidding on those concept cars at Barrett Jackson a couple of years ago on the show? He was working for that restoration place when the car was at the Chicago world of wheels last year. They were filming at the time. I couldn't even stand to be around my car with that guy yammering on non stop. It was fun to watch the circus though. I will try to catch it next time around.....
I think your right, its the same anoying guy that bought the Buick concept car at BJ...what three years ago? Good on him for bringing back original customs. Still, a much different world then I'll ever live in...yes, thats envey talking
im glad someone saved it and put it back how it was. also he said he paid a lot less than 15k i think it was probley worth it.
I just watched it this morning on my dvr. I'm so glad it wasn't another show about restoring a 69 Camaro! Finally a show that didn't leave me wanting my hour back!
Yes, it was a bit of a surprise. It wasn't without it's drama but still it was better than most. It was so nice to see them not install leather buckets, billet wheels and a crate drivetrain.
Friendship Auto was also on the show.... GREAT old yard. Not much in good sheet metal, but tons of stuff and worth the walk regardless.
cool old custom, but holy smokes what a bondo and rust bucket though. They had their work cut out for them. I hope they got a deal on it.
i loved it....seems as tho the producers limited the big drama...i still call BS on a 12 week build of that magnitude...even with a crew of full time experienced builders...great show
I was just happen to stumble on this show last night, and was surprised as it was a pretty decent show. I enjoyed that they put it back to its first version, and that they put all the little details back. CBB
