since i cant seem to come across the stock main grill for my 47 plymouth cp, i ben thinking about do something custom. well i just happen to have a 49 GMC grill here and i kind of like the look i could achieve with it trimmed down to fit. what ya think?
Is the rest of the car being done as a custom? What is the overall look you are going after? I'm not saying the GMC grille wouldn't good, I'm just not one for going with something because it's all I have laying around. Although sometimes that does work with surprising results.
does not seem to flow with front of your car-plus chrome plating may be on the pricey side. have you put an ad in wanted section here?
Here's a couple in the classifieds, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=484467&highlight=plymouth+grille http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=464436&highlight=plymouth+grille
as soon as you settle for something that you do not really want. you will find the grille that you really want. Just wait and the grille will show up
Post your request over on the P15-D24 site. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/index.php?referrerid=1152 I am sure someone over there will have one or know where to find it.
nope....if ya got to ask , you won't like . Better yet, ask your wife & do the opposite. Thats what i do & it works good.
You may be on to something there. Take a look at the new Rod&Custom (Sept '10). There's a '46 Ford in there with a Plymouth grille and the front fenders have a piece from a '50 Chevy pickup grafted on to them. Go with the GMC grille, and consider using a couple of fronts off a GMC or Chevy pickup fender, too.
biggest thing im working on in my head is how to reshape the front nose of the hood, the peak just does go with the grill. maybe grafting in a section of a gmc hood, as i do have the gmc grill surround i can narrow up
the thing that i like about the plymouth is the point in the front end and when most people o a grille change on it they always lose the point. for my grille i was planning on making a custom grille out of tubing and keeping the point
i have a 48 dodge ,,,, and i'm going with a modified front end .. my avatar is a photoshop of what it will look like ... here it is 1/2 done ... hope it helps to make up your mind ...
