I've read all I could, but I still have a couple of questions.
    The engine is a standard 305 + 700-R4 ( ex Caprice , 1986 ) in a light car.<O:p</O:p
Since I do not have an “oil compartment” in my radiator, transmission-cooling has to be obtained otherwise.<O:p</O:p
So I got a separate 0.75 x 9 x 9 oil cooler ; this will be put in front of the radiator, behind a blowing fan.<O:p</O:p
Will it be able to do the job properly, keeping the fluidtemp. between 160/190 °F, assuming cooling is restricted to this cooler only ?
<O:p</O:pAnd, for future flushing purpose … there are two line-connectors on the transmission, one <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com[IMG]</st1:metricconverter>2” above the other.
Which line is the supply and which is the return ?
    <O:p</O:p
    thanks

Transmissions actually run hotter than water in the radiator. 160 to 190 may be unreasonable; and cold. I believe with a stock motor and trans, and converter in a light car you will be just fine with your trans cooler.

On the 700, the lower port is the out...upper is the return.

    That cooler should be fine.

that would be fine, On my T i mounted a cooler under the floor.I figured the outside air has to be cooler then the water in the radiator.

Here is something that maybe helpful although it does not exactly answer your question.

Bottom LH corner shows a diagram numbered 1 to 5 for preferred tranny cooler positions and what the manufacturer rates the efficiency in each location.

Sorry if it is not that clear to read...

Came with a tranny cooler I used on my 1960 F100 pickup.
I mounted my cooler parallel with the chassis between the step and the chassis rail.
