Ok so this past weekend I went to a swap meet and I saw a set of bumpers laying down and i asked the guy what they fit he said 53 chevy!!! i said how much do you want??? he said 50 bucks!!!! these bumpers arnt in bad shape the chrome is still good so i bought them!! i couldnt pass them up for the price! so now what i wanna know is has anyone ever put 1953 chevy bumpers on a 1952 chevy? this may sound dumb but the bumpers on my car are junk!!!
Well, the frames are the same, so they will bolt on, don't know if they'll match the filler panels very well.
did you get the 53 brackets? I bet it wouldn't be too hard to get them to work. cut a little bit off here, add a little bit there and yer all set.
If your bolts line up then it should fit. The brackets should be in the same location and diamiter. I had a 50 chevy and my brother and I put 49 Fenders on it. We had to do a little fabrication but I'm sure you can make it work.
My 51 chevy has a 53 frame under it. put the 51 front bumper back on with the 51 brackets and it lined right up. Only question is the splash pan as mentioned already.
when i got the bumpers i got the front brackets only and that does make sense the frames are the same from 49-54 so i guess i can try it like that the rear one doesnt align but iam sure i can make something work!! the bumpers arnt that far off so i can deal with it!! thanks allot guys!!!
I saw a 1953 this weekend at a local car show, that owner said, had 52 bumpers. This is the reverse of what you are asking, but it may help to see it.
the brackets are supposed to be the same I have a 1956 chev front bumper on the rear of a 53 chev but that took welding but fits pretty well and a plasmaed filler panel, golly its just metal, a drill makes bolt holes and a welder attaches stuff getter DUN!!!!
I'd like to see pics of how it all goes together. I think 53 bumpers will look good and no one will even know. like a 1.5 inch chop.
Well here goes the front bumper on, it worked out pritty good!!! i used the stock 52 front brackets and they bolted right up!!! the 53 brackets are 1" shorter than the 52 brackets... the rear bumper still needs some playing aroud... let me know what you guys think!!
sounds to me that you got a hell of a deal on the bumpers that front on is in good shape for what you paid good find
thanks! for what I spent on the bumpers Id be dumb to pass them up!!! actually the white walls that are on the car in the picture I got them at the same swap meet wheels and tires $35.00 for all 4!!! so I guess it was a lucky day for me!!! the roof actually got buffed out and thats the original paint!!!!
