I'm using a Canon A-1 that was built in the late 70s. It's great because it's so manual, Auto-Nothing. It makes me slow down and think about the shots.

  2. Nice job! Pics were worth the wait. Nothin' like slowin' down an' thinkin', some should take note.

or full shot of the little pick up? I'd like to see how they tuck in front. Thanx.

I take my file to the developer and instead of getting prints they throw it all on a CD for me. http://www.nelsonphotosupplies.com

You should break out that old camera, they are alot of fun!

    Thanks man.

I never made it to the show when it was in Paso. Santa Maria was damn fun, though!

wow, no kidding ? i never knew they could take a roll of film and put it on a CD. amazing. shows you how up to date on things i am. LOL. i will have to see if york photo has that service too. i send my film to them since they are way cheaper than the local walgreens. or i will check out the place you use.
yea, i love my manual A-1. bought it in 1983 and have tons of pics of drag racing, nascar, vacations, etc. i have a 35mm lens and a 75-210mm zoom.
what lens did you use on those close up shots ? i gotta get me one of those and start using it again. probably been at least 5 years since i have used it.
thanks for the info man, i appreciate it. sorry to get a little off topic.

Great photos, Joe, I like the film to CD results. You are an inspiration. I'm going to dig out my old Minolta Maxxum and put it back in service.

The AD Chevy with the Caddy bumper was at Goodguys in Pleasanton. That truck was my pick of the show. Here's a picture:

Nice composition. It's pretty hard not to be in the picture when there is so much chrome, huh..
I hope to see some of your SLR work in upcoming art shows!

It's a 50mm Fixed Depth Lens. I also have a basic UV filter on there. I think that for me the real trick was not having a camera that thinks for you. No auto focus. No zoom. Not even auto-wind. I have to slow down, think about the shot and everything in the background.

I'd like to pickup a fish-eye... but I really enjoy the setup I have now.

    You are welcome!

Man I was staring at it all Saturday. There is something really damn cool about a beautiful motorcycle in the back of a perfect little pickup.

thanks for the info joe. your beautiful pics have inspired me to start using my old manual camera again. i just dug it out. havent used it in at least 5 years. now that i know i can put the film on a CD i will use it more.
    old skool man....
like you said, i love the fact you have to get everything set right and think about it before you snap a pic.
here is my 1983 cannon AL-1. and i too have the 50mm fixed lens and the 75-205 zoom. gonna look into one of those fish eye lens too, when i get the extra cash.
    thanks again.
