first off, I have to say, I have one of the best gal's in the world, a true HOT ROD COUGAR! Mine LOVES road trips to buy hot rods, Loves Shows/cruise inns, Camping, and working on our old cars, I now have 11 and she has 5....

She bought this 1957 4 door hardtop 2 years ago and put it away till she sold her house, well, it's gone and the 57 is in the shop being done...Pulling it apart, doing it right...Harbor Blue, with a Blue Black interior, WWW and spinners and Fender Skirts....Mostly stock...More as we do it, we took it apart Sunday, and will be pulling it off the frame this weekend....if the mounts come in....seeing more and more of these 4 door hardtops, it is the ONLY 4 door, I'd own...and did, I bought on from my buddy Steve Gibson here in the Goshen, Ohio area when I was 25, that would be 20 years ago...where has the time gone...

  2. Looks like a good starting point! Flake the roof? The fo' do' HT has a unique roof, looks kinda like a deployed parachute. Not a damn thing wrong with that car.

I like it. 56 & 57 4 dr hts are the only more doors I would do.

  4. I've always been in the minority on this because I like the '55-57 Chevy four doors. Build it and show us what you do with it. It looks like you started with a really solid car.

  5. I'm a 2 door kinda' guy but 4 door hardtops are cool.
Looks like you're starting with a nice one.

    good luck with your resto!

  6. I work with a guy who's wife has a Sierra Gold '57 Sport Sedan. Cool cars; good to see another one saved.

I'm a 2 door guy, but I can make exceptions, especially when it's a hard top. And that looks like a nice one.

I've become a big fan of all makes' 4dr hardtop rooflines from '56 through the end of the fin era. Your '57 is a great one. Looks like you and the lady are having a blast with it.

Sure were a lot of well-styled sedans for '57! ;)

    Ever see a 55 4 door H/t, or a 4 door 56 vert?
No G.M. never made them, just thought I would share.

I have to admit the 4 door h/t 56/57 chevy was never one of my favorites
but the older I get, and the more I see, the more I like them.
Maybe Im just now gaining some real class:D

Bodyman has been busy priming, blocking and put in the new USA made rocker panels, picked up the new Harbor Blue paint...ouch! $844 dollars later, sealer, 1.25 gals of paint and the clear coat....ordering the interior another 2K...but will look killer when done...vicki wrenches on when I teach her, but she is NOT afraid to do anything:p. Next off the frame, clean and paint it, install new body mounts and bolts

Keep track of your shim count on the individual mounts or there will be hell to pay later!

You are a lucky man! My wife would not go near my project.......

Do you have any shots of the B pillar supports? I am interested in how much bracing it takes to keep that area nice & straight.

What he said. I had a 57 Chev more door hardtop in 1970. It was a sharp car. I like the 57/58 Ford's too ;)

l have my 4dr 150 in the garage, its on the to do list.

grampa bought it from the little old lady next door, she bought new and only drove it to the doctor and the local store. in 1966 she couldn't drive any more so she sold it. he was the second owner.

it has 86000 oringal mles. l tore it down in 1992 to restore and still have not finished her.

Sweet 4-door hardtop. They have become real popular and have come way up in value the last few years. If those 4-door haters are honest with themselves, they'd have to say that the most attractive body style in '56 and '57 really is the 4-door hardtop (Sport Sedan) with all the windows rolled down. Great car...
