Just for giggles, let's say I found a Horne 4 deuce intake for Olds, complete with carbs (94's) and linkage. What should I offer for it? I don't think the guy knows how rare they are and I don't want to screw him. After reading the Street Rodder article a few issues back, they must be very hard to find.

Like I said never been run, never been installed on an engine, no polishing of any kind. Absolutely virgin.

$300 would be a steal. I wouldn't be suprised to see one sell for between $800 and $1300 depending on condition.....without carbs. Good luck!

  8. I'd have him price it. $300 would be a VERY good price. I wouldn't have let him have a day to think about it. Just google "olds horne intake" and look at the first link that comes up. After what JohnJoyo posted...I hope you get it for $300.

Got this for $330. Am picking it up Wednesday. Not sure how virgin it is though. Haven't seen it in many years. This one is for 324 Olds, will it fit Cadillac also?

You got a deal but Olds and Cad are different. Build an engine around it.

Olds and Cad intakes are way different, and $330 was a great deal!
4 years ago I paid $350 for my Cad 4x2 with 94's, linkage and air cleaners.
At the time I thought I had gotten a "pretty good deal" until I saw a bare intake go for $750.00 on ebay about a month later!

I don't do e-bay. This includes four 94's and linkage. Wish they were 97's but can't choosey.

Just did a google search on Horne intakes and ran across a Rod & Custom article, the Jot Horne Story, which stated that he started making intake manifolds in 1955 and that he made less than 100. I think he sold the rights, etc... to Cragar.
I also ran accross a bare Horne Cad 4x2 intake that was in the HAMB classifieds in February of this year for $1200.00 and it sold fast. Your deal is sounding better and better!

1955? made less than 100 manifolds, total?

I read the article too, but I'm having a hard time believing both those numbers.
I would have thought he made more and earlier.

I picked that one up, seemed reasonable to me for something as rare.

Ive done some other research too and that fact seems pretty close, i know they came out in 1955, i have a feb 1955 rod and custom with a how to article on bolting on "the new horne manifold" so id say the year is correct, but the qauntity no one will know.

Ive got the horne for a caddy and a horne for an olds that i just bought from Ratatat here on the hamb, and am in search for a hemi horne if anyone has one they want to part with and will pay up for it. id love to go for the quad and have the y-block one too but i dought id be able to round one up, but same goes for that one too.

heres a couple of pics and scans of the old article and an add in the back of the mag, i dont remember seeing any other adds either.

Here is the one that Art Gray bought new and ran on his 32 at Bonn. I bought it from him before they went out of sight.

Hey guys, I'm a personal friend of Jot Horne and I would love to have one for my '50 Olds 303, sedanette with factory 3 speed. Unnfortunately, I'm a disabled Vietnam Vet and live on social security. Next week I start my qualifing for a heart transplant which I hopefully will get. If any of you guys want to give a good guy a break, it would sure be appreciated and I know Jot Horne would be very excited also.

Mine has the same crossbar between the linkages. It also has wedge spacers under the carbs...might have been in a boat.
I had never known (or seen) that one was made for a Y-Block until today...could there be any other makes out there??
