You know, I read stories like this on here from time to time. Really inspiring stuff, not just finding and buying a car, but actually living a life that becomes part of the history we seek to embrace. The old timers got that way, not with a 40 year step, but first with three, five, or eight. Eight years. That really is history.
Builbing your jalopy and thin drive-n it all the time know-n that you built it is a good feel-n, now thats the way it should be done....
That is a perfect roadster in my book. Then again, look at what I built.... a coupe version of that. Mine has been on the road for about 5 1/2 years..... Good luck on the run. Wish you were closer, it would be cool to hit the road together. This roadster is a good example of the RIGHT reasons to build a hotrod! Tear it up Jay!
As a newbie here, I'm jazzed to see it's not a pipe-dream to build a great car on a tight budget, and make the Reliability Run to boot! Thanks for that, and have a blast!
Hot Rod = ...... Your car your way. Nuff said.......... Good for you not talkin' about it and jus' doin' it. Great ride and you have the licks that go with the build. Earned all the smiles that come with enjoying the wind in yer face. Steve
That car sucks, you should have kept the Lincoln, and when are you going to get a door that matches the rest of the car! OK seriously, I've loved it from day one but don't let that go to your head. Love Ratboy
what a great car - and a great build up! and: we got the same tyrekickers here who know everything better but did not do it yet...
7000, man i woulda been done with my car months ago if i had that kinda budget... lol i gotta buy it piece by peice over months...... its a long process....
My most memorable moment is heading over to your place at about 10:00 at night one time to mess with the torque converter... jeez, there was like 100 bolts we had to take off to get that thing apart... that was at your second place in Alameda. I also remember when Gordon showed up at your 1st place... he was like Santa on Christmas morning! Bringing parts, and much needed enthusiasm! We had been working on mounting the motor, and we were removing the stock model A crossmember, drilling out rivits... you had like a hand drill, a combo phillips/standard screwdriver and one of those wrenches that fits everything from a 1/4" bolt to a 7/8" bolt and a claw hammer and I was thinking "Dang, how are we gonna do this??!!" Gordon figured it out... Sam
Saw the car at the HOP UP party at Bonneville in '08, always hoped I'd figure out whose it was. Its perfect. Borrowed your engine/firewall clearance method for fitting my olds motor in my A. Thank you for sharing your story.
