Like Nick says, the hood looks fab. It is some more U.S. tin you've stold?

Thanks fellas! The stolen hood's needing a bit of tweaking around the gas bottle and couple of notches to clear the headers but it's getting there.
Not sure where the screen came from,Mark. It was with the car when I got it from Archie. He got it at Pommona at least 12 or 13 years ago and can't recall who made it.

Steve,I'd like to think you'll spare a thought for us poor bastards when you're relaxing on the beach with a cold one.Don't suppose you will though!:D
    Safe journey,

  6. Looks like you are building some nice ankle-burners! I wonder if there are any sources for those table legs here in the States; the cones I bought from Speedway are 36".

Hi Richard.I would think that any larger home improvement stores would be likely to have something simillar.Just a case of searching them out.I assume you have IKEA throughout the U.S.They'd maybe be worth a look.

Modified the F1 shock mounts this evening,as per the Bishop/Tardel book.Didn't have any dry sand to slow down the cooling process so,following a tip from the HAMB,I used kitty litter.Worked great.Just wish they'd said to take the turds out first!:D
Also made up some threaded bungs for the shock mounts. These will pass through both sides of the frame rail to give a strong mounting point for them.

Finally got back to doing some work on the car!Headers still need the welds cleaning up,blanking caps and a take-off for the rest of the exhaust system but,the hard part is done. When finished,I'll spray them with either matt or satin high temp black paint.Building headers is a lot harder than I thought.Don't want to build another set any time soon!

Thanks fellas! This is my first shot at making headers and I'm pretty pleased with them though, must admit, they seemed to be the hardest part of the build so far.

    More progress today.
Drilled some 7/8 inch holes in the frame and welded in the threaded bungs for the F1 shock mounts. The holes were drilled through both sides of the frame so I can weld both ends for a good strong mounting.
The front bungs are about 1/8 inch out from the face of the frame rails so that the shock mounts are parallel with the centre line of the frame.

I also cut up a stock headlamp bar and tack welded the cups to the shock mounts so I could trial fit the Marchal Aerolux headlamps.

Next job will be to fabricate a tie bar between the shock mounts.
    Cheers,
    Mark.

    Thanks Malcolm!

Got the tie bar fabricated today.Made a couple of tabs from 6mm plate and drilled them to fit on the upper shock mount and to take the bar ends.
The bar itself was made from a length of 14mm bar stock which I rolled to give it a slight curve. Then bent the ends in a vice(with the assistance of a fuckin' big hammer!) to fit the tabs and welded it together.

Not sure if the headlamps are too far apart or if it's just my shitty photo!

Decided today, that the headlamps were too far apart.
Brought them in by 1/2 inch each side, looks a lot better.

Loving the build, there is some skill being thrown around for sure!

Even motivated me to clean up the garage and get my R.P.U back in to the daily grind of life.
