As you know Matt and I started the restoration of the Legion Special after scoring the original shift knob, wheel bearings and rear crossmember at the swapmeet in Turlock in 2008.

Since then we have been searching for original photos of the vintage racer in it's natural environment. After much digging, a few shots surfaced when we purchased some items from the estate of late lakes racer Earl Williams from Haddonfield, Illinois, where the car was originally built. As far as we can tell he had some involvement with the car, but we're not sure how much. In all the shots we have so far it seems to be more in the background.

We'd really love to find some more detailed pics, but we're not sure where else to look. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Holy Cow! Dig the sheet metal work from the grill to the cowl on the roadster closest to the HUFF lumbar sign, and again on the dry lake. Beautiful...

I once saw a note on the back of a counterfeit 100 dollar bill that said, "What you don't know about copying and duplicating won't hurt you"...

    Rad photoshopping

....add some grain and selective f/stop focus grain to the background and you would be in there like Mr. Belvedere in his underwear.

come on brah...Seriously..... the fonz isn't even in those shots.

Love the car though and the snuggleriffic cockpit.

Great thread Kirk! I swallowed the hook ...and you had me flopping in the bottom of the boat!

By far the BEST (& most influential) Aprils Fools thread on the H.A.M.B. today!

Also ... if you look real close at the background of the first photo, you can see some "short skirts and boobs in the sunshine" ;) :)

I think that's why it didn't run that day.

  30. I really hope you're planning on re using those original wheel bearing. It would be great shame for both automotive and dry lakes history. If you completed the restoration without using such an integral part of the original car.
