Will car stay as-is (blue) or will it transition to red? Good lord, red/blue... are we now bringing politics into this?!!!

    Tom

    Quote

The car will stay teal or the blue it is!

The copy car will be RED and for racing.

Yes we are thing of building a copy car for racing and with all safty up grades!

We'll keep this the way it was, when we found it.

I was told this is plaque from Austin MN Thumpers Club...but I haven't found another source for verification. Can anyone else verify this as being from Austin, MN?

I did bid on it a couple times early on -on ebay. I wouldnt have been able to do the painstaking period correct restoration you have with it.
This thread has been a pleasure to watch.... And a matching "red" comp copy........how kool will that be!

I had the chance to meet some guys that worked with the car, years ago!

The first guy, his son was working down around the corner from me, called his dad and said the old B/ Comp car he worked with, was at the show.

Bob, drove up to see it. Bob in the first pic w/ me, as we were takling Marv stopped by and had storys he shared too. Second pic is w/ Bob & Marv

The third pic was Sunday, when Henry and his family made the drive up to the show to see the car. We had fun talking about the car and the history.

Henry and I met an another guy, Tom from the Belair Car Club that tried to get this car to one of their shows, had said he had some pics of the car too. So, I got his info so maybe, we'll have some more pics.

Some of the uploaded photos seem dark...at least on my PC. So here they are lightened-up a bit.

You might want to mention any shows this summer in Austin. Maybe Mike might bring the car 'back home'.

OK, next show will be Toppers Car Club 52nd Annual March 27th and 28th, in West Fargo ND.

Maybe enter the Prime Steel Show April 10th & 11th, in Grand Forks ND.

Then 1st plan is to bring the car down for Eddie Cochran days, Low Bucks Car Club, Albert Lea, June 11 & 12th in 2010.
And move the car Sunday, the 13th to Austin, Mn.
    For a Thumpers get together.

Or 2nd is to bring it down for the spam Jam in July?

Now after talking to Henry the other day, he said that the tank had a pump in the cap, you can see it in some of the pics.

So if anyone has one, I'd like to see one and find one to buy!

Henry also, said that the blank spot in gauge cluster, had a fuel presure gauge in it.

If you know of one that matches the one we have, I'd like to buy one!

He said it had a big chrome tach. that was a 9-10,000 rpm one in it and said you can see it in one of the pics when the car was red!

So looking for one of those too!

They also used rubber ball with chains, for the stacks & headers.

I've looked all around our town and can't find any RED or GREEN rubber balls, 3"-3 1/2" and 1 5/8 - 1 3/4" to buy! I have the some old chains.

So if anybody wants to help on this, let me know what you find.

    Thanks Mike

I'm looking for parts for the COPY COMP CAR!

Do I start a new thread on the Copy comp car?

Just bought the used racing 301 short block for it! Should be here soon.

I'm looking for a '32 sedan w/no doors to chop up, too! Let me know if you have or can find one, I can pick up.

    Thanks Mike

  21. I've got a '32 Fordor with only rear doors in the classifieds. Would be a great candidate.

I don't want to hyjack this thread. Are any of the guys from the Thumpers club on the H.A.M.B.? I remember seeing the club plaque at Kenny's Oak Grill in Austin about ten years ago and I wanted to find the history about the club or even start it up again.

For what it's worth, I made a very quick & dirty video & posted to YouTube to see if any more info on the car could be found. Will keep thread & Mike advised if anything comes of it.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdyibnN_bVc

Also, I see that the car may come to Eddie Cochran Days. SUPER! I will keep checking with you Mike on that at a later date. Maybe I could put a small write-up in local paper and that might bring in a few souls with some info on the car.

Oh, and regarding Eddie Cochran Days. Friday the 11th is just a social in the evening ...Saturday the 12 is actual car show (trophies), cruise, entertainment etc.

thanks for feeding our addiction Mike!!
