So, I spend a LOT of time on the road in just about every state Today I ran across a great BBQ joint with HAMBers' in mind: HOT ROD BAR-B-Q 1911 Farmerville Hwy Ruston, LA Call 318-254-8010 Exit 86 on I-20 in Louisiana then head north half a mile on your left Started in 2003 by Roy Kees & his wife (family owned & operated). Roy is a former paint & body guy with 25 years in the trade who owns a 40' Ford Sedan, 23' altered T, 70 Chevelle. He grew up with his Dad chopping cars in the backyard. Roy has been on 'Pinks' ....... twice. We talked over a great Monday lunch special of sliced brisket, two sides, bread for just $6.99. In this economy, it makes even better sense to promote family businesses offering good food at a good price. I shot these pictures today when I stopped for lunch. This is a GREAT place to stop on your way from Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama or anywhere further east when headed to Austin or Dallas for the Spring runs & shows. Well - back on the road for me, Jim
Hot Rod BBQ is the BOMB! I eat there every Friday! Roy & Pixie are great folks! If you are traveling on I-20 through Louisiana stop in Ruston and eat!
My granparents had a little farm in Ruston and we went through there on our way back from the west coast this summer. Always have fond memories of that little town. Went by the old farm house and it was cool. I will sure stop in at the Hotrod Barbeque next trip.
Oh yeah we eat there alot and the guy is good friends with my dad. His son went to school with me. We also do all his towing. I agree it is definately a hot rodder friendly place and all the pics are from local guys. Thanks Brad
The locals have spoken Thanks guys, the place & the food were great .... I forgot to add there is plenty of parking around back for trailers ..... Jim
Hey this is pretty cool. I grew up not far from Ruston and went to La Tech. Haven't been back to La. in a very long time, looks like it's time for a quick road trip when I get back from the sandbox.
