Nice to see someone your age into old iron and not tuners, but be prepared to get flamed the R-R term is a big no no around here. It doesnt have to be a R-R, spend a little more time on fit and finish, and keep the hoaky a$$ do dads off of it, and try and use as many vintage parts as possible.

Welcome aboard newbie, from one to another.

I wonder how long Peterson had to apologize for Hot Rod

    Get over it guys!!!!!!

Rat Rods are like porn. Nobody can describe it but we all know it when we see it.

My first car a 47 Ford twodoor handmedown from my brother. The engine is from the Rose middle '50s American Most Roadster winner. That is me on the left at about 17. My brother Bill on my right. Sorry about the quality they were taken off of 8mm film. The only pictures I have.

Take a lot of pictures. You'll be glad you did when your pushing 70 like me.

The 56 Olds I rescued from behind a barn when I was 18. Cleaned it up ane ended up selling it a few years later.

The 57 f-100 I got when I was 19. Had a 6 cyl in it and I put a chrysler big block in it. Still have it but its a little different now.

When I got out of high school I always wanted a Willys so it took me 2 years to build this one. I was 20 when I finished it. It was wwaayyy to street roddy when got done with it so I eventually sold it to build more traditional stuff.

I did not get any of my builds finished before I reached 20. My Uncle had me visit various places here in the great US of A getting me ready for an all expense one full year vacation in a tropical paradise. I was 21 when I got home. I purchased a 32 pickup a few months later...I still have it, over a 120,000 miles since I finished it...Unlike most of you guys, it is finished..Nothing changed on it in over 15 years..It hasn't even been waxed in over 10 years...Great 1 step above a daily driver...

  18. My parents accidentally tossed my high school car photo's when I went in the Army!!!

I'll try to dig a few of them up...

Well, it's not welcome on this board, but I'll post anyway...My camaro I built right out of Highschool, and still own. I also built a 65 Chevelle while in highschool (recently gave it to my Dad) and a '85 Monte Carlo SS that I had just painted 9 days before an old asshole ran a redlight & totaled it...
I'll try & scan some pics later...

  23. Okay was not going to post but got talked into it. Started this at 20 and finished it at 22. And no i won't say how long ago but lots of you were not born yet. Think i had the first set of Mickey Thompsons around here and ordered them from summit from a 18 page catalog. No it's not HAMB freindly but Ryan was probably on a BigWheel back then. :D:D:D

Dad pulled the '51 out of the woods for my 14th birthday. I had it on the road by my 17th birthday. Graduated with it, got married with it, and still have it today. I have put over 30,000 miles on it since.

Bought this when I was 18, did quite a bit of work on it, added 302/C4 and drove it a bunch! Sold in 2002 when I was 23.

Long, Long time ago, BUT it was my pride & joy!!!!---I can still hear the bark & rapppp from that six in a row with split manifold & steel packed PORTER mufflers!!!!!!
Back then (1949) the cops looked for 2 pipes from under the bumper!!----That meant ticket time in Inglewood, Ca. To combat that, we would hacksaw the pipes off 6" before the bumper!!!!----------Don:D:D
