I serious only work on this thing 2-3 hours a day. One step at a time!!

 

HAHA! Some is easy and other stuff is a plain chore. Hoping 2-3 months she'll be all done. Course I may have a job now, so that may get in the way

Today I finished the throttle linkage and got it all hooked up with the Thickstun I'm using. It works slick

Also rebent and polished on the new shifter. Finally got around to puting a new threaded insert in a bitchin "jeweld" shift knob I had, so now it'll thread on too!!

I got a new job today after 4 months of unimployment, so I gotta go back to work Monday...Still hoping to be driving this bucket in the spring!

 

Chris, Now that is some great progress on your Roadster. Loving the look of the Flattie and the interior. Keep the updates a coming.

Nice, you are getting all the annoying stuff out of the way like the throttle linkage. You have the fun stuff to look forward to now like painting the frame with a brush. That's the shit I know I can do so I am excited for you. It's these damn banjo rears that I am afraid of and what slow me down.

 

Got the steering box welded today. Had a good friend and excellnt welder do it for me, he tig'd it with a silcon bronze rod...he also said the two pieces looked cast steel, not cast iron. Big difference for breakage later. I still gotta dress the weld, but at least it's done and it still turns






Also picked this lincoln wheel up from a friend... I think it's too flashy for this thing

Car's coming on great,Chris.Agree on the steering wheel.Very nice but,maybe not suited to your car.
I'm using an old Deuce wheel .Stripped the cracked plastic off it,polished the spokes and powder coated the rim black.Think it stands me £10.

Not to be all rat roddy but I think the steering box looks good as is. No need to dress that thing just paint it! I guess that is rat roddy but you know me!!!

Seriously though, nice job on the steering box. That steering wheel would be awesome in an early 50's hot rod roadster but I think your better off with a '40 or banjo. I also like the look of a '31 Chevy steering wheel which might be close to a model a. It's a tri bar styled wheel that's real basic but bautiful at the same time.

Any of those three would look awesome in that Rad interior.

p.s. Your shift knob reminds me of a dogs pink crayon as it creeps out, which is oddly enough is what I think of your face.

Wow, been a while since I posted, so here goes...

New job is taking up time to work on this sucker, but I'm managing somehow
I got the frame all apart right now, I finished getting shock mounts and such figured out and now am finishing all the welding on the frame. I got the crossmember half finished off on the ends. I still have some grinding to do on the one side, but I ran outta discs! See the pics below and tell me what you think.

Also worked on the framehorns, they had shit welded to em and were bent, so I got em strait and ground pretty smooth.

Thats about it, cars in a million pieces all over the shop, but hope to have the frame and running gear in primer in the next few weeks. Then assemble and enjoy

Looks really good. That thing almost deserves single stage shiny black.....from a gun and not a brush!!! I almost think that you should spray that and brush paint the body a dark maroon. I think that thing would look killer however you finish it though. You've put a lot of work in and it's really showing.

Don't get all GNRS worth on us though. We count on you to keep the character of the car hahaha!!!!

This roadster is perfection!!! Exactly how I would build one.

I was actually thinking maroon but who knows in the end. Also thinking of spraying the frame, too...it's way easier then brushin it...but I got no were to spray it and it's still cold outside! I'll get it figured out I'm sure

 

Put some plastic sheets up (the ones off your bed will do) and spray it right there in the heated garage. It's not like it has to be perfect ....I mean absolutely perfect at least. Your brother won't mind if you get a little paint on his car while your at it.

I have these huge plastic sheets that Davina picked up from Home Depot that are used to put on the floor so spatter doesn't hit the carpet. Those things will work really well if you just pin them up on the ceiling and drape them down so that you don't get overspray on your tools and parts etc. The only thing that you have to make sure does not get on anything is the Epoxy primer because that shit does not come off when it goes on.

I'll be painting my firewall in the garage also. I need to patch a few holes up but I think it'll go pretty well once I have those plastic sheets up.

Maroon is the ticket Chris....think a subdued earlier version of the Navarro Roadster!

 

Chris, looks great, I especially like how you have cleaned up the F-1 mount... very clean and finished... but still having the utilitarian/mechanical look to it... really like how the wishbone is mounted as well... cool beans.
